Tournament preview : Montreal - Masters 2017 (Canada) long time no see, not only players for few months didn’t compete in Masters level tournament, but this tournament was two years ago – We mean in this particular place, every two years players came here to play this RogersCup Master. One of the most prestigious tournaments in Canada and maybe all ATP tour have really big prize fond, this year 4,917,120$ and of course 1000 ranking points, even in first round players gets 10 ranking points and 16,595 $ very solid numbers. Winner get‘s 894,585 $ for sure it is big money for a player, last time Andy Murray was that player who won this solid money, anyway this year here we will see a new champion and new finalist, because neither Andy Murray (winner) neither Novak Djokovic (Finalist) isn‘t playing this time.
Players who will play in this event :
Top seeds : First seed is Rafael Nadal (2), this year hard surface score is 22/5, very solid numbers, but we doubt he can take this title even if he is first seeded player. Rafael Nadal is playing very well this season, he won Rolland Garros, but he never won this tournament here, best score is QF, and that not good enough. Last time he reached R16 and lost to Kei Nishikori in two sets.
Second seed : Roger Federer (3) The most dangerous player at this tournament, this year 21/2 score on hard court, many titles on hard, Grand Slam title in Australian Open, Wimbledon this year.. Just amazing playing quality this year. Roger never won here too, last time he played here it was 2011 and he lost to Tsonga Jo in R16, best score in this tournament was in 2007, ten years ago when he reached Semifinals.
Third seed - Dominic Thiem a young player from Austria, who will play only second his Montreal Master, last time he just loose in first round and that was all for him. With no miraculous score on hard this year, only 11/7 he still manage to reach No. 7 in ATP ranking. Player from Austria mostly plays on clay court and prefers slower surface.
Fourth seed : Youngster from Germany, but with Russian blood, Sasha Zverev is second most dangerous player here in our opinion. No. 8 player in world currently is playing at Washington event, where he is in the final. For this moment he have 12/4 score on hard, but we guess he will improve. Player very talented, with perfect serve, good athletism and other qualities to be best. He never played here in masters, so it will be his first time.
Other famous players : This year field won’t have such good players like Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stanislas Wawrinka, Marin Cilic and some other players, but we will still see some good players and superstars like Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, David Goffin, Kei Nishikori and they all have a great opportunity to win this event.
Most interesting first round matches : Juan Martin Del Potro - John Isner (14) this will be one good battle between Towers, who like to play big serving game, use strong shots and play old good serve and volley. Steve Johnson – Gael Monfils two perfect players to watch, American versus French player they both have good serves, but totally different style of playing.
Sam Querrey - Gilles Muller also very interesting battle between towers, with one American, who currently won Los Cabos title and after good play in Wimbledon can’t stop to win. Gilles Muller also good player who can compete in serving battle in first round.

Juan Martin Del Potro (31) – Player from Argentina, who really likes all surfaces, but best quality tennis he shows on fast courts, today he will play on hard fast court, so we can expect he will show some good tennis. Juan is very tall player, almost two metres height helps him to serve much better and catch every lob volley over his head. Argentinian is mostly known for very good sportsmanship, his kindness on court, of course he is also very good player, with a lot of talent and good tennis play. Juan best qualities on court is strong serve, very flat forehand and his strategy, he is also not afraid of serve and volley. 7/5 score on hard court doesn’t look like he is very good player, but there are reason, he still trying to make his comeback to safe and normal tennis after injury, he don’t need to rush it, so he plays not so often. We can remember year before he got injured and Juan had 30/9 score on hard courts.
John Isner (19) – American currently went up in the rankings, he won two titles in past two 3 weeks, so currently he plays very impressive tennis. Player from USA also known for good serve and for being tall guy on court, but also like Juan he have a lion heart, recently he bought 500 packs of dog food for charity, he really likes to help people and all alive beings. John is more than 2 metres tall, he really like to play on fast courts, use his serve and volley tactics and so far this year he have 8/5 hard court score, neither so impressive like in Juan situation, but he had some struggles in beginning of the season. All career score 251/125 proves that he is really good on fast courts. We can say he like to play like Juan, but he depends on his serve more.
Comparing the players : Well, players are very similar, both tall with good serve, flat forehands, not the best backhands at this moment, but there is one BUT, player from Argentina is much more athletic and faster, so it can help to win match, especially if John will struggle with his serve a little. Age difference is not big, only 3 years older is American.
What to expect today ? Players are in different shape of ready for this match, Juan for sure will be ready, he missed tennis so much, he is going up in the ranking every tournament, so he will show some good tennis. What about John? It is hard to say, he won two titles he is on good winning streak, but after many wins, he must stop someday and this first round can be last for him at this event. Still we can imagine guys like this, with perfect serve will make at least on Tie-break and will make a lot of ace’s.

Jack Sock(17) - Very talented and very smart player, he is still young, only 24 years. American maybe young, but very intellegence at tennis, smart and he is fun to watch. Like real american he is tall 191cm and like american player he have very solid serve. Burito lover, like he say's about himself this year showing a super result on hardcourt, 25/7 score on hard, he improved a lot in two weeks, played two tournaments at home. After few years down, he came to good play like Jiri Vesely with doubles help, he won few important titles with doubles partners and all that wining energy came to singles. Jack won to titles playing singles matches in Auckland at the season start and later in Delray Beach. Strong sides of Jack Sock ? Well of course it's his serve, very strong and solid, and acuraccy of serve sometimes really impressive. Also power play with strong forehand is second thing in Jack arsenal and last but very important thing is his mind. Currently player in 17 ranking position, but with hard surface all around he already improving his ranking.
Herbert Pierre(69) – Tall French player, who mostly finds himself in doubles with his partner Nicolas Mahut, but some time like this he also plays on singles tournaments, after winning qualification round he will meet American. Herbert is mostly known for his height and big serve, on fast court he is very dangerous, he like to serve and volley, he can run really fast, his technique quite good, he have all the qualities to be a good player, but somehow he manages to be in second half of top100. Only 4/5 score on hard this year, not much, but in his all career he have only 83/57 score, like we said, he don’t play often in singles. Still player is dangerous, most important thing to win in Frenchman play is serve and fast shots.
Comparing the players : We can say better players is Jack Sock, he is higher in ranking, he perform much better this year, plays more and more successful. If we compare the serve it can be very even, because Jack serves really well too. Agility is on Jack side too, he is more athletic , his all tennis play is much more faster. If we talk about talent and strategy we can say Jack is just better on everything.
What to expect : Players already met this year in Australian Open, start of the season was very good for Jack, but Pierre managed to compete with him in AO, he didn’t win a set, but he made Jack sweat. At this moment Jack is in very good shape, but Pierre played qualification so he is getting in good shape to for this tournament. We guess both players are playing very good tennis at the moment, but there is one thing Jack can make some mistakes after two tournaments he played last weeks, so in this tournament he won’t be so fresh. Our guess we will see a lot of game’s in this match.
Game preview : Montreal masters came to second round and already we have a lot of good fights today, thanks to draw. What players get in round two? 30,730 $ and 45 points, in perspective of points it is very good deal, a lot of players will improve rankings, especially those who came thru Q round. Player with Russian blood is from next generation, but we can say he is now already, he plays so good other players need to learn from him, at only 20 years age he is in top8 it is impressive. What is so special about him? Well he was training with his Father and brother, he learned a lot, now he have a new coach and plays even better. 198cm player, but very fit and weights only 86kg, so he is very athletic and fast, his serve is amazing, just like John’s Isner serve. He is still young and fresh and you can see it on the court, with all his talent and hard work he can be next top No.1.
Richard Gasquet : Much older player, difference between players is 11 years, so with that 11 years of experience Frenchman can do a lot in this match. Richard is totally different player, he is smaller, he doesn’t have such great serve or strong shots, but , there is always one but. Richard may be down in ranking, but he still knows how to play and he is getting back to good tennis after harsh time. Main qualities of Richard is his head, he thinks very well, his shots are near perfection, especially from the onehanded backhand. Even if he lost 2 matches to Zverev this year, he fought till end while everyone else lost to him without the fight. 6/2 score for this year on hard, but he will improve it for sure, player like R.Gasquet really likes fast hard court surface.
Comparing the players : In physical form and game play they are different, tall player with great serve versus smaller player with simple serve. They even play differently, all shot and strategy are not the same, Richard Gasquet uses his top spin shots from backhand and forehand, that really helps him versus players like Alexander. It‘s all about perspective and surface, while Sasha is very young and fresh he want to win everything, but remember D. Thiem he went same way and now he have a lot of injuries because of many matches he played, while Richard knows how to play and where to play.
What expect today ? : We think experience is the key for Richard, he lost two times in a row to Sasha, so he should made his conclusions about his opponent, he will not make same mistakes, but its not only about experience, it just who is better player at the moment , if Sasha will play like last week it will be very hard for Richard even with his new strategy, but we guess both players will be ready, maybe Sasha will be a little bit tired after winning the title, so he can start to play good from the second set.

David Ferrer (33) - Spanish player may be only 33 in the ranking, but he know how good he can be. Spaniard had same problems like Roger, he went down in ranking, he didn‘t play good enough to compete with younger players, but we all know it for short of time, all older players always comeback to good shape and wins back everything. 5/4 score on hard court is not good enough for David, so he will improve it soon we guess. After long time with no titles, last month David Ferrer finally won a title in Bastad.
Comparing the players : Players met 17 times before and all those times Roger was better, starting from 2003 Vienna Indoors tournament he won everytime, but now these two old wolfs ain‘t so young anymore, they both are have more than 30 years. Most matches ended in two sets, David just couldn‘t compete, but later spanish player improved his game against Roger and won at least on set. What is so different between players, that makes Roger to win everytime? Well, Roger is taller, have a better serve and ofcourse Maestro is very tallented player, we don’t say David is not, but Roger is just better. David Ferrer score all matches during career 795/392, while Roger have 1151/268, both results are miraculous , but for sure Roger have much better score. There is one thing, David is good on all surfaces, but he prefers clay surface, he is best there , while Roger played all surfaces and felt best on grass, that is the difference, maybe Ferrer David was created for clay court and he feels best there. So biggest difference is in game style, Roger likes fast tennis with fast shots and short rallies, while David likes long rallies, slower balls and hits with more spin.
What to expect : Well when you meet player for 18 time, we guess it always hard to win, doesn’t matter with whom you play, so David won’t give up easily for sure, he knows his opponent well. We can say Roger is still warming up, there is no need to loose his health again so he can wait for Us Open to score a lot of points, while David will try his best, he needs points now to be in better ranking position, so in the end David can win set again, maybe even match, a lot depends on Roger and his current shape.
Dennis Shapalov is new hit in Montreal Masters, very successful youngster at this time. Why is that? He play's at home, it is a 3 tournament in a row, so he is in good shape, maybe other players don't respect him enough and now they see what happened, Del Potro is out , Rafael Nadal is out. Only question when Denis will loose? Who can beat him?
In my personal oppinion it will end soon, maybe he will loose today, after this tournament he will have a lot of point's and higher ranking, but i think he won't show this good game any time soon.

Roberto is not tall player at all, he can serve a good serve sometimes, but mostly he uses his head to win, same like David he uses some style of tennis and he is very successful there. 14/4 Score on hard this year and yes, this spaniard really like fast surfaces not only clay. Roberto have best score on hard courts, 204/97 that pretty much impressive. How small player like this from clay surface country can be so good? Well, like we said he uses his own strategy, his coach said : His every opponent is in big trouble, because Roberto is always ready for them, he watches a lot of recordings, does his math and makes a strategy for every player. Also player from Spain is very talented, he have good, strong shots in every direction , nice touch.
Comparing the players : Well, Roger is coming for that No.1 so he will feel a little of pressure, while Bautista won‘t feel any of it, maybe playing with Maestro is always hard, because they played six times before and Roger won all of it. Last time they played two tiebreaks, it was very intense match in Miami this year, they can repeat it. Difference between players is in all ways, Roger is taller, stronger, uses one handed backhand , has a great serve and etc.. Bautista maybe don’t have a lot of it, but he have his mind, his strategy and good tennis, yet 7 younger player from Spain can be more fresh and athletic.
What to expect today ? : Like we said yesterday, we can expect same today, Roger is good, he plays well, but with every round it’s getting harder to compete, he win, but harder and harder. Roberto won’t give up easy that for sure, we guess he made a plan for today, how to play. Yesterday both players had good fights, Bautista maybe lost more energy against Gael Monfils, because his match was very intense. Still both players will give all energy, but Roger can hold up a little energy for next tournaments and maybe won’t play at start with all power, so Bautista can do something today.

Denis Shapalov – Two year younger player from Canada, but like Alex isn’t real German, he isn’t real Canadian, he was born in Israel. 183cm tall, can shoot really good serve, he is very young so very fresh and athletic. Only 33/17 career record on hard, but still positive and this year 18/6 hard surface record is mostly became this good on Canadian hard court season in late summer, he won one challenger here and reached final on next one. Now he is in SF round at Masters, he is youngest player ever to reach Montreal Masters semis. He defeated players like Juan Martin Del Potro, Rafael Nadal, even Roger Federer said he enjoys watching him play.
Comparing the players : Alexander have more experience for now, it’s not his first time in such big tournaments and late rounds, Denis is very young in all meanings, he is new on courts with men. Better Server is Alex, better runner, better everything in everything is A.Z verve, maybe only on motivation or home court advantage we can say Denis will be even. Most interesting thing Denis is left handed, and uses one handed backhand, that can be very good for him today.
What to expect today : Well, Denis for sure willing to do something great, but he defeat a lot of good players, so we don’t think that Denis will defeat Alex or even compete like even to even with him. Alex just better in everything, maybe Denis is on fire like everyone say’s and he thinks, but for today his fire will burn out.

Well, they met already few times, they met when Roger was in bad shape and they met when Roger was in perfect shape. 2016 Halle on grass Roger lost in 3 sets to Sasha, but this year in perfect condition Roger won in two set’s very easy. For h2h is 2-2, today someone will take a lead, and it’s hard to say who it will be. But there is an opportunity for German player, Roger didn’t played superb tennis in all tournament, he was solid, he won every match, but he didn’t destroy anyone, so it’s say’s two things 1) Roger isn’t in best shape yet

Game preview : Cincinnati 2017 (USA) Open ATP event just started and we have a lot of great matches in first round, so many match is hard to choose what to write about. 5,244,930 $ prize fond waits to be sliced in many pieces, at first round players get 17,700 $ and 10 ranking point, for last players in draw and players whom came from qualification it is very good deal. Round by round prizes are getting bigger and winner of this event gets 954,225 $ and 1000 point‘s, it‘s amazing prize. So for today two ex elite players will meet here, they try to comeback to the olympus of Tennis ranking. Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin Del Potro was in top10, but after some problems and injuries they both went down in ranking. He is very talented player, but unfortunate he have very hard career in tennis, many injuries, but less good and happy times for this Tower. Still Juan is very good player, he was in top10, he won many times against players like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, but then a injurie came and everything was lost, but now he is back again and trying to show so good quality tennis on court, he already is in top 30. 8/6 score on hard this year, but he is improving, slowly but he is on a right road.
Tomas Berdych (15) – We also wrote about him, about how he struggles this season, but now he is going up again, after good Wimbledon, good warm up in Los Cabos he is ready for this tournament. Tomas found him self again in Wimbledon tournament, he showed everyone he can and he will compete with everyone. 12/10 hard score for this year not really good for him, last year he had 24/12, and yet he don‘t have any title in this season , only one final was reached.
Comparing the players : Last score in this event : Juan Semifinal (2013) Tomas R16 (2016). Both players are really tall, with good serves and they use serve really well, both can hit superb forehands and strugle a little bit on backhand. There are a lot of similarities between them, tall, slower, with strong movement and fast shots, serve and volley tactics. Only question who worked harder in last weeks and who is more ready, of course word talent is also main factor here.
What to expect in the match? : Players are similar , they played together 8 time’s before, and each one won 4 times. Matches wasn’t so spectacular, a lot of TB and two sets, each time someone was a little bit better, so I expect in this match it will be same. One of them is ready more and want to win more, so no secret they will try to win it again in two sets.

Player very talented, with perfect serve, good athletism and other qualities to be best. He never played here in masters, so it will be his first time.
Other famous players : This year field won’t have such good players like Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stanislas Wawrinka, Marin Cilic and some other players, but we will still see some good players and superstars like Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, David Goffin, Kei Nishikori and they all have a great opportunity to win this event.
