Marco Penge Suspended by DP World Tour for Betting Breach

English professional golfer Marco Penge has been suspended by the DP World Tour for breaching betting integrity rules.

The violation occurred under the PGA European Tour’s Integrity Programme, which strictly prohibits professionals from placing bets or encouraging others to bet on any aspect of professional or elite amateur golf worldwide, including results, progress, or conduct.

The decision to suspend Penge was made by an Independent Disciplinary Panel, which determined that he had placed bets on various golf events. Importantly, none of these bets involved tournaments or games in which he had participated.

As a consequence, Penge received a two-month suspension, which could be extended if further breaches of the Integrity Programme are uncovered. Additionally, he was fined £2,000.

The disciplinary commission noted that Penge immediately admitted to the breach and fully cooperated with the investigation, which was considered when deciding the penalty.

The suspension began on December 13, 2024, and Penge will be eligible to return to DP World Tour events on February 13, 2025.
