Dominoes - Have You Ever Tried It?

Believe it or not, Dominoes has become one of the most popular games around.

It is played in a mass of different countries and can be traced back thousands of years!

For those who have never tried it, while it may seem like a very simple game, it is not as easy as it looks - there are skills to it.

If you check on the internet you will also see that there are loads and loads of tournaments around the world, and some Domino games have even resulted in violence - it is taken that seriously!

I've only seen it played by older women. My mother-in-law gets together with a bunch of friends and play dominoes fairly frequently. She loves it. All I have done thus far is set them up to knock them down but it seems like an interesting and fun game.

I have seen old men playing it in the parks and on benches. they somehow seem to be totally engrossed in it. I have tried it - but have not developed any interest in it.
Will try it now.

Dominoes is very popular in pubs and clubs in the UK. Walk into any working mens club and you will no doubt find men playing somewhere. Uusually they play with matchsticks which alledgedly have a monetary value which is sorted out later out of view of prying eyes.

I bought my daughter a set of Dominoes for Christmas. Well, I know that the games are not the same as you guys are talking about but we've had a lot of fun playing with the dominoes. They can actually be a great teaching tool too.

Yes, actually I enjoyed playing Dominoes when I was a kid. My parents bought us a set becuase they think that it makes US (the children) think. So, yeah, I grew up playing Dominoes. I'm not sure if I'm good because I've never played with anyone else aside from my family.

I have never really taken to dominoes. I can remember using them to stack up in lines when I was a child but never really got around to learning how to play. I know the basics but don't really play anything like I should to learn any stratergies.

I remember years ago being taught how to play but having so much trouble picking the dominoes up that I just gave up. It wasn't the thing to stand them on a table top no they had to be held in the hands. The amount of times all my dominoes feel out of my hands I forget but it was enough for me to loose interest quickly.

Must admit I enjoy a game of dominoes now and then. I don't see many younger people playing it but it seems to be a hit with the adults around my town. I don't remember when I learned how to play I just seem to have played for years

We have a version of Dominoes called Chicken-foot. You have different colored dominoes, and you lay them down in a pattern that looks like a chicken foot, as you play hence the name.

I think I've read that Dominoes dates back to ancient Egypt.

I've seen it played in recent years by people I work with, mostly of Caribbean decent. It's surprising how hard they slam the pieces down when they make a good move. :warning

I don't like that game at all. I find it boring. I have seen my old uncle playing it.

I love the game. I used to play all the time an hour before school with all the siblings and cousins. Now we just play when we have parties. Very fun game. Everyone should play it, if not you should learn how to play HERE...it's very easy! =)

If you wanna get your domino on, HERE is a link to some free online playing sites.

Have fun!
