Snakes and Ladders v Monopoly

For those of us who like to relive our youth, does Snakes and Ladders and Monopoly bring back memories?

I used to love playing both as a child, but I think Snakes and Ladders just piped Monopoly.

Any other people play these as a kid?

Snakes and Ladders is super corny. I never even want to play that when I was a kid. But, my brothers and sister played that. I just watched them.

I love Monopoly more because it involves money and buying and owning. So materialistic!

Yes I agree Monopoly for me too. To have money in the hand and property on the board I don't think snakes and ladders comes anywhere close. Far too old fashioned for me. I played that when I was about 5 Monopoly you can play at any age really.

I still play snakes and ladders with my granddaughter. She squeaks with delight when I encounter snakes and I feel like a child again.
It is a good game for children - I wonder when it was first played

I think it must be pretty recent Milly. It seems to be a game that doesnt have much of a history compared to the likes of chess and dominoes. Still I can't find an exact time period for it being introduced and may be wrong?

I love Monopoly. I always end up trying to buy the best property and bankrupting myself in the process! I think the game has so many things that I like such as rolling dice, cash to collect and property to buy that I rarely feel bored by it. Great game to play at parties.

Monopoly for me too. I see that over the years they have changed the format of the game to stay interesting. Game boards are themed to tv programmes for example and still manage to hold the same attraction as the original game.

I prefer Monopoly over Snakes and Ladders, because it's a bit less superficial. It's a more complex game with more rules. It's a nice challenge.

That's how I have been lately. It feels like I very rarely finish a game of Monopoly. Of course when I'm winning, I don't mind finishing the game. 😉

I remember chutes and ladders, but not snakes and ladders.

I choose snakes over monopoly, it takes to long to freaking play that game. I swear that game can last forever if you aren't careful. My patience isn't made for that game what so ever.
