One of the most influential poker representation agents, Poker Royalty, has signed one of the most successful female names in poker, Annette Obrestad. Typically, poker professionals take up residency with an online poker brand without the help of a third-party management company, but Obrestad has decided to take a different route.

In this freshly penned deal, Poker Royalty will take over worldwide management of Obrestad’s career, though dollar amounts have not been mentioned. Poker Royalty will market the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe champion to potential online poker sponsorship deals. In the past, she has been sponsored by Full Tilt and Betfair, but is currently un-sponsored. The agency will also represent Obrestad in licensing deals as well as market her for speaking opportunities.

Maryland is one of the top 50 states that really does not like gambling, or should we say the state politicians don’t. It is in fact one of the more popular poker playing states despite a small state of only about 3 million people.

Why is Maryland blocked by so many poker sites, casinos and sportsbooks? Well it’s because their aggressive attempt by the D.O.J. to make headlines and the mighty dollar from seizing “illegal” gambling profits from these companies.

Is it illegal to play online poker in Maryland? As a player it is NOT. It’s somewhat of a long story but the US government made it legal to play poker in the US in 2012. Actually they didn’t make it legal, because it already was. They simply clarified an act that was attempting to shut down a perfectly legal operation of a skill based game.

What Is The iPOPS?

iPOPS is an acronym for iPoker Online Poker Series, five superb tournaments that have a staggering $1,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools between them. Event #1 kicks off on Apr. 29 with a $100+$9 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout and concludes with a $125+$10 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout with a $500,000 guarantee!

That particular event also has a twist to it in that the tournament will be paused when there are only 27 players remaining (final three tables) and these players will be whisked away to the buzzing city of Barcelona to complete the tournament at the Gran Casino de Barcelona at the start of June 2012.

PokerStars is in negotiations to acquire Full Tilt Poker in a deal that would end the two online poker companies' legal battles with the U.S. Justice Department, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Under the deal being discussed, PokerStars would acquire the assets of its smaller rival, according to the person. The deal would be part of a broader settlement of a civil case brought by the DOJ against the two companies, the person said. The DOJ shut down the U.S. web sites of Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars last year as part of a crackdown of online poker sites.

It's unclear how much PokerStars would pay for Full Tilt or what assets it would obtain. While tarnished by the government's allegations against it, Full Tilt retains one of the best-known brand names in online poker, a status built in part through its extensive television advertising. The company is also known for its software used to run online poker games and has a database of poker-playing customers.

There’s a saying in poker: If in the first twenty minutes you sit down at a table and you can’t tell who the sucker is, then it’s probably you.” Jennifer Tilly is teaching me about her preferred sport backstage at the Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of Don’t Dress for Dinner, a sixties farce by ******Boeing- Boeing playwright Marc Camoletti in which Tilly plays a tarty mistress who has to pretend to be a cook when her lover’s wife unexpectedly stays home for the weekend. As I discover over the course of a wine-fueled night that stretches from the Great White Way to a high-stakes “house game” in a 36th-floor Tribeca apartment, there should be another rule: If you sit down at a poker table with Jennifer Tilly and don’t think you’re the sucker, you’re probably wrong.

When I first attended the World Series of Poker (WSOP) there were no corporate sponsors, no scantily clad models hawking online poker, and no TV cameras. The big action was found downtown on Fremont Street at Binion's Horseshoe, a gambler's gambling hall. Some of the rounders wore cowboy hats and most went by colorful nicknames like Puggy and Texas Dolly.1

Despite all those colorful names, the biggest name in poker was Amarillo Slim.

The social gaming developing Titan, Zynga, which is based in San Francisco, has rumors revolving around it. As there are reports that state that Zynga has entered talks with Wynn Resorts, the land casino giant in order to have some kind of partnership for an online gaming casino. This partnership seems to be aiming to have the advantage of the latest turbulence in the online gambling community in the United States.

This turbulence is caused by a possible legalizing of online gambling on a national level through the federal court of law. Also because of the latest statement made by the Dept. of Justice regarding the Wire Act in December 2011, stating that this law was aimed towards sport wagering only, thus legalizing all other forms of online gambling in the United States. After such statements by the DoJ, a lot of states are racing each other to enter the regulated and legalized world of online gambling. It has been estimated that about twenty states are planning to move into the regulated world of online gambling.

The old adage that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life rings true for some. Just ask two Parsippany brothers.

As teenagers, Arash and Bahbak (aka Bobby) Oboodi started playing poker for fun with their buddies and in online games. In time, both started winning what they considered unbelievable sums of money. And today, Arash is developing into one of the top online players in the nation while big brother Bobby, who plays in casinos, has earned more than a million dollars from the game.

"I can't really think of playing poker as a job—it's something I enjoy doing," Arash Oboodi said. "But technically, yes, it's my job. And I know how lucky we are to be where we are."

On Saturday May 5 all of America and horse racing fans throughout the world will be focused on the Kentucky Derby. Will one of the favorites, Bodemeister or Union Rags, emerge winner or will an outsider steal the show? The Kentucky Derby is the first leg of the American Triple Crown, which also adds excitement to the horse race.

Bovada runs a separate horse racing portal where punters can place bets on the Kentucky Derby. But to give its online casino players a taste of the excitement, Bovada Casino has designated Derby Dollars as the slot game for its popular Win-Win Fridays promotion running on May 4. In this promotion Bovada Casino invites its players to wager on Derby Dollars on May 4. If they win then it is great, but if they do not win then they will get 50% cash back on their losses, up to $50. This is why Bovada Casino calls it a win-win promotion. The cash back given will have a wagering requirement of 20 times on slot games.
