Bwin.party digital, the world's largest listed online gaming company, said it had prepared the ground for a possible relaxation of U.S. internet betting laws by signing a deal with a Native American tribe which operates gambling in California.

The company said it had entered into a ten-year agreement with the United Auburn Indian Community ('UAIC'), which operates the Thunder Valley Casino Resort near Sacramento, to provide the technology to run online poker services should state laws allow.

Only play at reputable online poker rooms. Avoid any poker websites that are new or ones that you cannot find enough information about. Check for information about the sites in print media and online news sites. Another place to search is online poker forums or websites that review online poker room. If you find no information about the poker room website, or questionable information about it - avoid the site.

Never disclose any of your personal information for any reason to anyone. This includes: your usernames, passwords, bank information, credit card information or any other type of sensitive data. There are many scams out there involving fraudulent emails being sent requesting additional information from you. If you are in doubt, go directly to the page (do NOT use the link provided in email) and contact the website owner or call the business, if this is an option.

Having already earned over $600,000 – mostly in domestic tournaments – prior to signing with Titan Poker it would be unfair on Trickett to say that he was an unknown when he first signed for the site, but following the completion of their deal the Brit booked his first million-dollar winning year.

From then on, Trickett simply went from strength-to-strength, playing not only the biggest tournaments on the planet, but also nosebleed stakes cash games in Macau and Vegas – and in 2011 his thirst for playing the game at the highest level was rewarded with over $4.5 million in winnings.

Having now established himself as one of the true superstars of the modern game, Trickett has seemingly decided that it is time for a change and announced on his Twitter account last Thursday that he would not longer be representing the site that first helped him launch his poker career.

The clearest shifts in the UK gaming landscape recently have been technological with mobile, rightly, taking most of the plaudits. But there are also many other areas both from a platform point of view and an operator perspective that have been neglected. Oddly, the online gaming operators most profitable platform, the casino, has been the one that has suffered most from a lack of innovation despite the arrival of mobile and tablet to the party.

Following Bodog UK's receipt of a remote gambling software licence from the UK Gambling Commission in July of last year, technological development has been a key focus of Bodog UK's business objectives and it's latest step forward in this regard sees Sathish Seshadri appointed Software Development Director having held several roles previously including Director BI Development. Sathish said 'this is a great opportunity to realign development with business priorities and objectives'. One of Sathish's core projects will be to work closely with the newly appointed Head of Casino, Adam Joseph, to expand this key product offering.

CTO, Stefan Matthews, enthused: "Mixing the innovative nature of the existing members of the business with a strengthened tech team will see a huge change in our business model and underpins fundamental improvements in our sportsbook and casino production systems as we approach Euro 2012. Sathish has the experience both from a gaming background and an IT background to take these platforms to the next level."

Often times, people are obsessed with being the first to get access to the shiny, new thing. Apple and other savvy marketers count on this impulsive behavior in us. In a world of information overload and instant gratification, we live in a community of words per minute and mouse click precision. Online poker players can definitely attest to that.

There are times though where we all reminisce about the good old days - or, even before we were even on this earth, thinking of simpler times where community meant beyond a G+ hangout and everyone would gather at the corner store, neighbor’s porch, or the occasional card game at the saloon..

This infographic sent to me by Casino.org displays a juxtaposed view of the old vs the new, with examples of a great daily winning total (10 silver dollars vs 100,000 on your RFID credit card), dangers (cheating criminals that would want you to draw at a duel in the town square vs a slip of the mouse), and secret weapons (ace up your sleeve vs a dual monitor display for multi-tabbing).

So, whether you’re a millennial of the times or wish you were Doc Brown in BTTF3, there’s something in it for you.

After its most successful month yet that saw $500,000 in guarantees paid out over just five weekends, online poker site Americas Cardroom today launched its brand new tournament schedule. The $50,000 Guaranteed weekly, made popular during Liberty Weekends, has officially become Americas Cardroom's weekend headliner

"Liberty Weekends was a phenomenal success, and we're excited to continue delivering big guarantees every week moving forward," said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. "The $50k Guarantee is now a permanent fixture at Americas Cardroom, but we've also got tournaments for players of every stake level."

The Sunday Night $50k Guarantee takes the 7:00pm ET timeslot at Americas Cardroom. The tournament costs $200+15 to get into, and players will start off with 10,000 in chips. For those with a smaller bankroll, the Sunday Night Nickel kicks off an hour later at 8:00pm ET. With a buy-in of just $5+0.50, the $5,000 in guaranteed prize pool money is likely just a starting point.

Joining the lineup of weekend tournaments is a $10,000 Guaranteed Tournament every Saturday at 9:00pm ET. The event features one re-buy and one add-on.

While the weekend is now stacked with big guarantees, weekdays haven't been ignored. Midweek, Americas Cardroom introduces a $2,500 Guaranteed every Wednesday at 8:00pm ET. The tournament also features a buy-in of just $5+0.50, with a guaranteed prize pool of $2,500.

The expanding tournament schedule featuring bigger guarantees should come as no surprise to those who have been following the US-friendly online poker site over the last six months. Management has built a reputation of increasing guarantees and pumping out impressive promos to satisfy its fast-growing poker community.

What's more, Americas Cardroom has been awarded the top poker site for payment process for four months running by Poker Affiliate Solutions. The site has proven over and over again that players come first, from initial deposit through to every winning check in hand.

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama said he supports same-sex marriage in the United States. While the event was historic for the gay community, it has stirred up some conversation about other issues.

Early Thursday, poker professional and Hall of Famer Barry Greenstein took to Twitter to connect President Obama’s announcement to the plight of ostracized poker players.

He said that the nation’s top politician supports efforts to legalize web card playing, but just won’t admit it.

In April 2011, the Department of Justice indicted the three major offshore poker sites (Greenstein represents PokerStars) in a sweeping raid that closed out the game to many Americans.

The three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner also compared the two issues:

The Belgium Gaming Commission has expanded its blacklist of companies which internet service providers in the country must block.

New additions to the list include bwin.com, betsson.com, bet-at-home.com, betclic.com, williamhill.com, stanjames.com, and betfair.com, all of which offer online poker.

These companies join the likes of 888.com, titanpoker.be, winamax.fr and everestpoker.be.

Belgian authorities claim the blacklist offer opportunities to legitimate operators who apply for licences while protecting players from ‘illegal’ sites which operate without a licence in the country.

An Assembly committee on Thursday approved a bill that could make New Jersey the first state to allow residents to bet on internet versions of casino games such as poker and roulette – but not without some bipartisan misgivings.

The Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Committee voted 3-1, with one absention, to send the bill to a vote of the full Assembly.

State Sen. Ralph Caputo, D-Essex, a former Atlantic City casino executive, said that it was “hypocritical” for the Legislature to allow what he called a virtual expansion of gaming beyond Atlantic City boundaries while not considering adding brick-and-mortar casinos elsewhere in the state.

Caputo has been a strong advocate of adding a casino at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, and he said he would prefer to see referendums in November both on the online gaming issue as well as adding more casinos.

Canadian poker superstar Daniel ‘KidPoker’ Negreanu has taken the runner-up spot in the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) $1,050 buy-in No-Limit Draw event #6 (high) – but not before becoming confused as to which form of the game he was actually playing!

The 37-year-old took part in all three categories – high, medium and low – of this event, but did not realise he was actually playing five-card draw and not 2-7 single draw No-Limit Hold’em.

The four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner took to microblogging website Twitter to write: "Playing my first #SCOOP2012 2-7 Single Draw NL playing all three, the $11, $109 and $1,050"
