South Point Poker is owned by gaming legend Michael Gaughan, and is the exclusive online poker room to the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada and is set to be the first legal real-money online poker site in the US when it goes live in September.

According to CEO Michael Gaughan, South Point’s gaming system has already been approved by an independent testing laboratory, the Vegas-based company’s application for an online poker license is set to be heard by the Nevada Control Board (GC😎 next month, when it will receive a recommendation for approval before heading to the state’s Gaming Commission.

Shawn Cunix has seven figures worth of poker tournament earnings, but his story is not that of your typical poker professional. He owns 82 Verizon Wireless stores and three car lots, but he is not your average businessman either. The 38-year old has been married for 19 years and has three children, and it is the drive and passion for providing for his family that compels this intensely driven man.

This spring, Cunix experienced an emotional roller coaster, surviving a dangerous ATV accident and saving his son’s life in the process. Weeks later, he found himself the last man standing in the World Poker Tour Jacksonville main event, hundreds of thousands of dollars richer. That series of events fits perfectly into Cunix’s narrative, as he has spent a lifetime taking on adversity, coming back at it with determination, and emerging as a stronger and more prosperous man. This is his story.

After failing to find a buyer until the very last moment, the beleaguered online poker room, Poker 5050 was forced on Friday to delist from the Swedish Stock Exchange where it has been listed for a while.

An announcement was made regarding the delisting last week: “After the application to be delisted by 5050 Poker Holding AB (publ), NASDAQ OMX has decided that trading in the 5050 Poker Holding shares on First North will cease. The last trading day will be Friday the 20th of July 2012.”

Online poker operators appear to have escaped a potential tax headache after Ireland’s new Betting (Amendment) Bill 2012 made no mention of the card game.

The Bill, aimed primarily at regulating online sports books and betting exchanges, will introduce a one percent levy on any company which offers these services to Irish customers including offshore operators.

In its most recent software update, which was released this week, PKR has added the ability to open multiple windows, which should be well received by the multi-tabling community. Now, players on PKR, an independent online poker room, can open up to nine real money table windows at a time.

Site officials note that you can cascade, tile, resize, and arrange them "to suit your preference, alongside additional casino game and mini-game windows. Multi-table options can be found in the top right of your table screen."

PKR has dubbed the ability to open up to nine windows at once a "game-changer for multi-tablers," which is certainly not hyperbole. The latest version of PKR is 2.08 and, in it, you can resize and drag and drop windows as you see fit. The action at each table will transpire simultaneously, so the only limit to how many tables you can open is how fast you can keep up with folding, calling, raising, and shoving all-in.

The first legal online poker site in Nevada could offer real money play as soon as September, as South Point Poker is anticipating an early launch date.

Silver State gaming officials had previously expected the first sites to be up and running around the holiday season in December or perhaps in early 2013. But South Point Poker has submitted its operating systems to independent testing well in advance of license approval and may be ready to go with real money poker in the fall.

"We’re finishing up our second wave of testing and so far no problems," South Point CEO Michael Gaughan told eGamingReview.

BetOnline Poker’s poker client is offline yet again, and players are continuing to be cut off from their poker cash according to recent posts at various online poker forums. Players who have recently signed up for the site are reporting that they can’t even load the software let alone get access to their player admin. After the buzz prior to the World Series of Poker that PokerStars was working with the U. S. Department of Justice to finalize a deal on purchasing Full Tilt Poker, that discussion has since faded into the background with no details forthcoming. Poker professional Matt Glantz believes that those talks have hit a roadblock and says that any forthcoming deal is “only hope and nothing more.”

Glantz delves into the issue on his blog, which is reprinted on the CardPlayer Magazine website, by starting out saying, “There would be few things better for the poker community than a successful closure to the disaster that was once known as Full Tilt.” Glantz lists off factors that would bring joy to the poker world – including the money coming back to former Full Tilt customers and an improved atmosphere in live poker rooms – but he sees major problems for any proposed deal between PokerStars and the DoJ.

According to an interview by eGaming Review with South Point Hotel, Casino, and Spa CEO Michael Gaughan, the first legal intrastate online poker room in Nevada could be up and running by this fall. Gaughan told EGR that it is essentially just a matter of getting the gaming license, that everything is on track for launch.

One of the advantages South Point has right now is that it is already deep into the rigorous independent testing process for its software, as required by Nevada law. Said Gaughan, “We’re finishing up our second wave of testing and so far no problems.”

Gaughan did not give details on which independent testing lab has been looking at the South Point product, but considering Gaming Laboratories International and BMM International were licensed by Nevada last month to test interactive gaming equipment, one might guess it is one of those two.

Diamond Flush Poker recently reported that the United States Government has filed a fugitive motion against PokerStars. The ongoing case, which stems from Black Friday, has now seen movement from the government and the fugitive motion document has now been filed in court.

The document calls for: “a date and time to be set by the Court for an Order (1) Permitting the Government to Take Expedited Discovery Relating to Fugitive Disentitlement and (2) Staying Consideration of the PokerStars Claimants’ Motion to Dismiss the Verified First Amended Complaint.”

The filing of this motion is in response to the defendants of both PokerStars and Full Tilt filing for a dismissal of the civil charges that they face. Diamond Flush Poker reports that the motion filed means: “The Fugitive Disentitlement Doctrine basically provides that a fugitive from justice may not seek relief from the courts whose authority they are evading. In other words, a fugitive would not be able to take advantage of a court’s ruling that may be in his favor (a positive ruling via the motion to dismiss or claims for assets facing forfeiture) while avoiding the authority of the court by keeping fugitive status.”

Bodog.co.uk are celebrating the start of the Olympics by giving pessimistic but patriotic punters the best way to enjoy British success; cashback on ALL athletics outright markets (track & field) if the event is won by a British participant.

Bodog.co.uk's Trading Manager, Lance Cornwell, commented: "With Jessica Ennis odds-on and Mo Farrah, Greene, Shakes-Drayson, Owusu and Ohurougu all in with great chances of winning this is a very competitive, some may even say, foolish cachback offer."

He continued: "Many are seeing this Olympics as the first where there will be strong trading on a level with the more traditional betting events and offers like ours can only help that become a reality."

Zynga Poker may shortly enter the world of real money online poker. PokerNewsReport asks how much difference their presence will make.

For those who avoid Facebook like it was a terminal disease, Zynga is a software provider whose play money poker application has 33.8 million active players and an online player average five times the size of PokerStars´ play money site. Zynga Poker is not just limited to Facebook, and the game can be played on Android Smartphones and through the Zynga Poker web site.

For anybody who does not understand the modern terminology (so, most people over the age of forty), all you need to know is that if the amount of play chips that Zynga Poker pays out in a day was converted to dollars, it would pay off the U.S. National Debt in a little under 24 hours. Furthermore, if just 25 percent of Zynga Poker´s current play money traffic converted to real money games, it would create an online poker site that dwarfed PokerStars – that is how big it is.

The induction ceremonies aren't until August, but the Women in Poker Hall of Fame recently announced the two players that will be joining their ranks: veteran poker pro Joanne "J.J." Liu" and longtime poker industry professional Kathy Raymond.

Back in May, the WiPHoF announced a their list of nominees that were under consideration for election to the Hall. Along with Liu and Raymond, names such as British poker pro Victoria Coren, three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Nani Dollison, poker pros Annie Duke, Karina Jett and Isabelle Mercier and industry figures Bonnie Leinhos, Deborah Giardina and Debbie Burkhead were all mentioned as being under consideration by the Hall's voting committee. The votes were tallied in late June and Liu and Raymond had gathered enough votes for inclusion.

Liu has been a part of the poker world since the 1990s where her cash game play and tournament wins have made her a woman to look out for. IN fact, her first ever cash was at the WSOP, when she finished fourth in a Limit Hold 'Em event and since then, she's cashed 24 more times. She's also made her mark on the WPT with ten cashes and two final table visits. She has earned over $2.6 million from tournaments alone.

Raymond has led operations in some of the biggest poker rooms in the US over the last decade or so. She's currently the Director of Poker Operations at the Venetian in Las Vegas and is probably most known for helming the Foxwoord Poker Room when it became a charter member of the World Poker Tour.

The duo will be inducted on August 31 and the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas. In addition to the ceremony, there will be a reception and a silent auction for the Poker Gives charitable trust.
