Czech Republic has been at the centre of an Internet and land poker boom over the past year, the newspaper Prague Daily Monitor reported this week, revealing that poker venues have proliferated and the national poker player numbers have surged to around 200 000.

The newspaper reports that added impetus to the game was given by Czech Jan Skampa's victory at the European Poker Tour in Prague last December. Skampa, a 23-year-old student of economics, won the Euro 682 000 main prize.

The best Czech poker professionals earn hundreds of thousands of crowns a month, the newspaper claims, whilst others satisfy themselves with several tens of thousands, which is enough to live on comfortably.

The European nation of Lituania has officially recognized poker as a sport. This announcement
will give sports leagues permission to organise non-commercial tournaments and allow citizens
to play poker without any concern that they are participating in an illegal form of gambling.

French parliament votes fell in favor of a bill that will legalize and regulate online poker and other forms of online gambling. The bill passed by 299 votes to 223, putting the historic bill on track to be signed into law ahead of June’s World Cup in South Africa. :thumbsup

The next stop on the WSOP Circuit event schedule will be at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from April 14-30. This year's lineup of tournaments includes 18 events, and all except one are Texas holdem tournaments – the only exception is the Pot Limit Omaha event on the 22nd. The holdem events will come in a couple of different variants that include turbo, limit, double stack, and a Ladies Event on 20th.

Preliminary event buy-in amounts will come in as low as $230 and will get as big as $550. The Main Event will have a $5K entry and will run for four days. Satellites will also run on the 26th to the Main Event if you're looking for a chance at a bargain seat. And don't forget that the Main Event winner will not only win the biggest piece of the prize pool, they will also get an automatic $10K entry into the WSOP Main Event Championship in July.

Playing at a table with 7 people, you have a flush, not a strong flush. It comes down to where you are heads up. That person is betting with you and then a raise. Of course you know that person may have something better than you, what do you do.

Although your question is a little vague I'll try to answer it. It is rare you will end up flush vs flush but it does happen. Two other possibles are 1) he has a set or two pair and hoping to draw to a full house or 2) he is betting a singleton ace in that suit. Proceed with caution here as you may be drawing dead to the higher flush already. Check/call unless he puts you all in or the board pairs. Hopefully your not to deep to lay down the hand. 4th suited card on the river could be disasterous. Good luck.

It has been a turbulent week for the world of online poker. After a series of grim announcements about impending law suits, federal investigations and the June 1st implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), the week appears to be ending on a hopeful note. Rep. Barney Frank’s Reasonable Prudence in Regulation Act (HR2266) and Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (HR 2267) are going to be heard by the House Committee on Financial Services next Friday, April 16th.

I was playing Omaha H/L on Poker Stars yesterday. I am dealt JdKsKhQs, I am thinking not a bad hand. To make the store quikc the remainder of the cards were AsAd5dAhAc, great hand for me everyone else loses.

My question is this has anyone ever seen that come out?

It all depends on how the other player has been playing. Has he been driving the action or simply calling. IIf he's just calling he's probly on a draw. If he is starting the action watch out.

Im just running bodog poker and it tells me there is a new version and it starts loading and stops at 97%.

A 172-page bill introduced by Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo authorizing construction of two casinos no longer criminalizes internet gambling and online poker. The offensive language was eliminated following a consolidated amendment passed on Tuesday. :thumbsup

The only thing standing between Florida poker players and higher limits and longer hours on July 1 is the Florida House.

And that body is expected to approve legislation on Monday. Gov. Charlie Crist's signature is assured.

Today, the Florida Senate passed Senate Bill 622 by a vote of 19-9. SB 622 approves the gaming compact that Crist and the Seminole Tribe of Florida agreed to this month. More importantly to poker players, the bill also puts into effect poker laws that were passed in the 2009 legislative session but were never enacted because a gaming compact deal couldn't be reached last year.
