Party was my first online holdem experence back in the day, made some good money there.

Party Poker is delighted to give notice that in April they will be hosting the inaugural Online Cash Game Championships (OCGC). This will be the world's first online cash game championships and shuffle up and deal is called on the 5th April.

Running from April 1st to 30th on the USA-friendly online poker site UB-com is the Perfect 10 Challenge. A total of $100,000 will be given away as part of a special Leaderboard Challenge and a top prize of $20,000 is on the line.

There will be seven levels, with a “final table,” in which the top six players over the course of the championship will play for a $40,000 top prize. In order to qualify to advance from level to level, you must play a minimum of 400 hands during a time period. Here’s how it works:

The top 30% of players advance, while the remainder will move on to a “second chance”

Level 2
$0.50-$1 NLH, April 12-16
The top 30% of players advance and earn $50 cash

$1-$2 NLH, April 19-21
The top 30% advance, earn $200

The top 50 players advance, earn $400

The top 18 players advance, and earn $1,500 (half as cash, half for level 6 table)

Level 6
$5-$10 NLH, May 3
The top six players, in terms of win rate, advance and earn $10,000 (half as cash, half for level 7 table)

Level 7
$25-$50 NLH, May 7
Players will be judged on win rate. Top prize is $40,000. Second gets $20,000, third gets $10,000

No rake will be charged at the final two levels, but will be charged in previous levels. Heads-up tables are not included in the promotion.

It will be interesting to see how well the concept works, and if it migrates to other sites, if successful. We’ll have more reports during and after the championships.


Party Poker

It has been announced that the latest addition to Team PKR is 20 year old Sofia ‘wellbet’ Lövgren from Gothenburg in Sweden. The Swedish poker player is a PKR cash game regular and is one of the online poker site’s highest earners since March 2008 from its group of up and coming females.

PokerStars has made updates to improve performance. The site released Euro tables, a colored notes feature, and VIP Club updates.

Full Tilt Poker released a sizeable number of bug fixes and new features in its latest update, which came at the beginning of March. The update addressed the following, as posted by FTPDoug in the forums:

· Wire withdrawals will be back in the Cashier as an option.
· An issue regarding hand histories not being written if you have a disconnect was fixed.
· Rush Poker time banks for $1-$2 and $0.50-$1 have been increased to 20 seconds.
· Players will be able to buy into FTOPS events with Full Tilt Points potentially in FTOPS XVI.
· The “Quick Fold” button at all Rush Poker tables will be bigger, possibly in the next update.
· Multi-currency tables are on the way.
· A new feature called “Request Hand Histories” will be available to players very soon.
· Rush Poker tables will have the “Check-Fold” button changed to “Check-Quick Fold.”
· There are plans to add PLO 8 ante tables.
· Happy hours for Rush Poker tables will continue to be 30 minutes long even though they are called “Happy Hours.”
· There are no plans to raise or reduce the maximum number of Rush Poker tables you can play at once, keeping it at four.
· Step tournaments are being discussed, but there is no timetable for their implementation.
· Rush Poker ante tables are on their way out because of a lack of interest.
· If you are moved in a tournament, your old table will be closed and the new one will be opened, meaning that your old table will no longer be “left behind” when you get moved.

The world's largest online poker website, Pokerstars, and Fox Television are combining to present a major cash game television show in which buy-ins will be $100 000, and the action will be in the $200/$400 NLHE nosebleed arena.

Appropriately titled "The Big Game", the production is expected to attract some of the biggest high stakes poker players on the planet, along with a "loose cannon" online qualifier in each episode. These wild card players will be found through Pokerstars free-rolls for US or Canadian members, and the company will support the players with the full buy-in. Those selected will have to commit to finishing their games in The Big Game, and may keep any winnings.

The online qualifiers are already in progress and will run through June 25th.

A federal grand jury in Manhattan is investigating one of the largest internet poker sites serving US gamblers and could bring indictments against some of the world's best known professional players, according to people familiar with the case and a subpoena issued to a witness this week.

The probe is aimed at Full Tilt Poker and individuals including Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer, champion gamblers who are among those accused of controlling the company in a Los Angeles civil lawsuit filed last year. Online gambling is illegal in the US and according to the subpoena the investigation is examining whether gambling and money-laundering laws have been broken.

FBI agents or prosecutors have spoken to at least two people involved in disputes with Full Tilt, paying special attention to the possibility of money-laundering violations, those familiar with the inquiry say. Money-laundering charges might be attractive to the government as they would compel co-operation from authorities even in countries where gambling is legal.

Full Tilt's web pages say it is registered in Alderney, in the UK's Channel Islands, and regulated there.
