Cake network security vulnerable

I have only played at Doyle's, but after I got the new lap, decided not to reinstall all the sites I had before. (I had about 10 sites downloaded at one time. LOL). I looked at the video showing how the security was vulnerable, but I don't see an example of seeing others hold cards. Well just thought I would pass on the information. X



After revealing security issues at Cereus in May, PokerTableRatings-com now uncovered a gap in the Cake Poker Network security encryption. The XOR system Cake Poker is apparently using can basically be breached by Windows’ built-in calculator, says PTR.

The gap allows a third party, positioned in between the Cake servers and the player, to steal account information, hole cards or even bankrolls. Although PTR’s investigation was limited to Cake Poker and Doyle’s Room, they noted the security risk most probably applied to every member room of the Cake Network. Certain, however, is that both the current and the new Beta (v2.0.) clients are vulnerable.

Its amazing the lengths people go to for money.just glad i dont invest alot in a poker site or play high stake games. but what can we expect ,we humans invented it and theres always some brainiac gonna figure it out. its no surprise to me but i had read an article saying that cake network supposedly had the best security when it came to catching bots but then again thats another whole story. thx. for the info though.

you are at risk, more than a hardwired connection


if you are using wireless
in a high usage wireless area
your risk increases

I watched the video
it was in a 'lab' environment

I feel that the risk to players
rest on which security protocols each individual uses

if you 'loosely' connect w/ disregard for protection
you have more potential for attacks

most attackers, would try to find the easiest prey

take steps to protect yourself!![/FONT]

I don't use wireless, maybe I'm safer or missing out.
But it will always make me wonder when I lose a killer hand.

They didn't show other peoples hands, only their own hands
