Phil Ivey is giving away a piece of his action at the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, and we’re not talking about those rumors about Phil and the cocktail waitresses floating around the poker forums. πŸ˜„

There are of course rules and regs, check out Full Tilt Poker for details.

I registered because it's free too, but I don't get it? Are they looking to expand Ivey's fan-base and market potential by doing this? I mean, what's the real incentive here? Anyone got any ideas?

I signed up for this as well, but it isn't as straight forward as I would have liked in requirements. So far I haven't actually had any luck gaining on my calendar, but it is still early days yet and sooner or later I'm gonna hit. GL to all who are particpating as well. Should be interesting.

I glanced at it and did not catch my interest........ Donks, a good 85% of the people that play on full tilt are inexperienced and have only played online, on top of that they are the "All IN" happy crowd, full tilt usually rewards them with awful cards that turn into great hands while your twiddling your thumbs wondering if AA is a good all in hand............................

This seems like pretty much a lottery for poker players...while FullTiltPoker gets more money in their pocket at the same time. This isn't exactly a free lunch, but more like either you paying for someone else's lunch or them paying for yours, if you're lucky enough. . .

I couldn't find anywhere that would even give the semblence of a hint as to what the odds of winning any of the prizes would be. But, that is because, they have no idea as it will be since the odds would be based on the number of players participating, how many games they're playing and how many tickets they acquire. None of which can be known until drawing cut-off time. . .

I can understand none of this making a difference if you're playing anyway -- it's still a shot at free money -- but if you're playing MORE in hopes of increasing your odds, my guess is it's not doing anything for YOU, but you are doing something for FTP. . .

I have been gaining tickets daily and have not gotten the cool surprise of winning something randomly.

When will it happen and will it happen😟 :crying

They're giving you a bonus for something you should be doing anyway... winning! That's the great part of this promotion... you only get tickets if you win! Sure, there's little chance of someone outside of the mid-high stakes games getting the 5% of Ivey or one of the daily bonuses... but one of the 30,000 entries into the 1% tournament... if you won even one ticket you have a good chance to get in it. Good Luck!

I have gotten over 1600 tickets and i havent won anything...some people who are the big mtt players probably get a ridiculous amount of tickets and win every drawing.

That was the point of the comments that I made above. You need to be able to play A LOT -- and successfully, apparently, if tickets are only awarded to cashing players -- and likely MORE than you usually do to increase your odds of catching a Piece of Ivey. I still have yet to see, anywhere, even approximate odds of winning any of the prizes offered. That's because I don't see how they can calculate the odds if there are an indeterminable number of tickets -- relatively or absolutely -- that can be awarded. Would you be gambling like that if this was anything other than poker?

The whole point of this promotion, in my mind, is that FTP makes a mountain of extra money off rake/entry fees from players playing more trying to better the odds. In return, you get a chance at some fraction of that going back to the players. . .

Just follow the common sense rule of gambling, paraphrasing here, play with your head, not over it. . .
