Leverkusen vs Frankfurt Preview
This Sunday we have a crucial clash for the top 4 as Leverkusen host Frankfurt.
Separated by 4 places (Frankfurt 4th, Leverkusen 8th) but by only 3 points this is a pivotal game for both sides. Frankfurt could gain separation not only from Leverkusen but also Gladbach Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim with a win here, meanwhile Leverkusen could move all the way and get tied with Frankfurt for 4th place here.
Both teams are very explosive attacking teams with Frankfurt being the 5th highest scoring team and Leverkusen 6th with 58 and 57 goals respectively, we could see a goal scoring battle in this fixture.
Leverkusen are currently on a better run of form having won back to back to back games and coming off a very good 1-4 win away at Augsburg last week should be feeling confident entering this fixture and with a weeks rest something Frankfurt didn't have as they had to play a Europa League Semi Final on Thursday the hosts have had much more time to rest and prepare for this fixture than the visitors Frankfurt who despite sitting 4th have hit a poor run of form winning just 1 of last 6 games and none of last 3 in the league only managing to pick up 2 points in the run though they have managed to stay 4th despite that.
Players to Watch
Kevin Volland and Kai Harvetz (Leverkusen) - 14 goals in the Bundesliga from both players this season as they are the clubs top scorers. Both have been showing great form as Volland has scored 2 goals in his last 2 apps while young sensation 19 year old Harvetz has been absolutely rolling with 4 goals in his last 4 apps. Both will cause the visitors a lot of problems in this fixture if they continue to play like that.
Luka Jovic (Frankfurt) - The talented striker has been absolutely on fire throughout this whole season whether it's Bundesliga or Europa League. He has 17 goals in the league this season which is 3rd most in the league out of all players with only Paco and Lewandowski scoring more. With Haller out, Jovic's importance becomes even bigger here and we can always anticipate him to get goals for Frankfurt and it's no different this weekend.
Recent H2H
Frankfurt did win the reverse fixture 2-1 at home, however they have struggled massively against Leverkusen away in the previous few meetings and they were thoroughly outplayed and beat down in their last 3 visits here losing 3-0, 3-0 and 4-1
This has been a fixture that has provided us with a lot of goals in recent meetings as the last 8 have seen 25 goals (3.12 per game) with 7 of those 8 having over 2.5 goals.
Prediction
Looking at the current form and given the fact that Frankfurt have Europa League in between this fixture, I think a we're gonig to see a Leverkusen win. The hosts have been on scorching hot form the past couple of weeks whereas Frankfurt have been up and down and with a key attacker in Sebastian Haller being out (14G 9A in the league) that limits them going forward though they still are a threat, they're not quite as good without him. Leverkusen are being tipped to win this game at around 1.60 across all bookies (1.62 at Unibet) and I wouldn't recommend backing these odds, but if at any point LIVE these odds rise to 1.8/1.9 or above I'd be willing to back that. Anticipate a high scoring game here too. Leverkusen to win 3-1 in my opinion as Frankfurt will be weary after playing just 3 days ago.
