The world series looks like standing between two teams Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants.

Two teams with a good shot of going to the World Series meet Wednesday for part 2 of a two-game series, as the Boston Red Sox host the San Francisco Giants.

Drew Pomeranz, who was traded from San Diego over the All-Star break, is making his debut for Boston. He faces a team he’s very familiar with, having pitched against the Giants three times this season with a 0-2 result and an ERA of 2.60. The Giants respond with Matt Cain, who was struggling this season before suffering a hamstring injury and being put on the disabled list for a month.

Marcus Stroman (4.12 FIP) has had some issues on the mound this season. His bat will also come into play Wednesday afternoon when the Toronto Blue Jays visit Patrick Corbin (5.20 FIP) and the Arizona Diamondbacks, starting at 3:40 PM ET on Sportsnet.

Stroman doesn't get many opportunities to hit; he has two official at-bats on his CV, both from earlier this year, and both were flyball outs. Corbin (.825 OPS), on the other hand, is the best-hitting pitcher in the game right now, although he's struggled to rediscover his All-Star form since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2014.

It wasn’t that long ago that Kyle Hendricks was a prospect in the Rangers organization, a year out of Dartmouth, but desired and landed by the Chicago Cubs in a deal that sent pitcher Ryan Dempster to Texas.

Hendricks is part of a group of former prospects dealt in deadline-day deals who are paying off big time for the teams that got them. He starts at 2 p.m. ET Wednesday against the Mets on ESPN/WatchESPN.

MLB Odds: Mets, Yankees Meet in the Bronx on Wednesday

The Big Apple will be in the spotlight on Wednesday when the New York Yankees hosts the New York Mets in Game 3 of the latest edition of the “Subway Series”.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a 50% bonus.

The Mets will go with Steven Matz (8-7, 3.35), who lost for the fourth time in five decisions in a 6-1 loss to Colorado at home. Matz allowed two runs on 10 hits over six innings, but he’s been hurt by a lack of run support. The Mets have scored two runs or less in each of his four recent losses. Matz has faced the Yankees just once in his career, taking a win last year in his rookie season.

The Yankees were going to give the ball to Ivan Nova (7-6, 4.90), but he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates at the deadline on Monday. The Yankees lost four straight to end July and while sitting with a .500 record in fourth place in the American League East, decided to have a big fire sale. Carlos Beltran and All-Star reliever Andrew Miller were also moved. A lot of young prospects are in the process of being called up as this team will look very different down the stretch of the season.

After re-tooling their lineup at the trade deadline, the Toronto Blue Jays (59-47, –1.91 betting units) will face the Houston Astros (56-49, –5.54 units) Wednesday night in Game 3 of a four-game set at Minute Maid Park in Houston. First pitch is at 8:10 PM ET on Sportsnet.

Marco Estrada (3.98 FIP) will be on the mound for the Blue Jays, but SS Troy Tulowitzki (.774 OPS) may or may not be available after taking a pitch off the right thumb this past Sunday versus the Baltimore Orioles. Collin McHugh (3.75 FIP) is scheduled to start for Houston.
