This pair have met three times before with Petra Kvitova having won all three matches, the last one happening about a week ago in Sydney with Kvitova coming from a loss in the first set to win in three. Ashleigh Barty the local favourite will have the crowd on her side but is up against a player who has not dropped a set yet in this tournament and is playing great tennis having demolished Amanda Anisimova in straight sets in under an hour in her last match. Barty is capable of taking a set off Kvitova if she plays to her best.
