Having missed the last qualifying round by taking third place in a group led by Denmark and then Poland, Georgia will not seemingly have an easy life in this Group 2 qualifier for the 2021 European Championship. This match against Liechtenstein will be the first on the Georgian qualifying journey, which will face competition from France, Switzerland, Slovakia and Azerbaijan. This calendar year, Georgia's U21s played three preparatory matches, beating Slovenia (3-0) and Israel last March and drawing with Slovenia (1-1) in June.
As a country still underdeveloped in terms of international football, Liechtenstein naturally sees its performances in youth football also affected by the delay compared to the vast majority of European football teams. Thus, it is with natural vision that we look at the final performance in the qualifying phase for the last U-21 European Championship, where in 10 games the team has not been able to add a single point. However, Liechtenstein opened Group 2 for the UEFA EURO 2021 qualifiers and managed to beat Azerbaijan 1-0 at home. In any case, the dream of qualifying will be very difficult, as France and Switzerland are the clear favourites.
Although they are not a group that will pose a lot of difficulties for the favourites in this group, it is up to Georgia's U-21 side to win the home games against their opponents who are clearly inferior or who can provide a balanced match. In the face of a Liechtenstein side who are defensively quite permissible and who can do little in the way of attacking, we would have to wait for a match dominated by the youngsters in the house, even to end the game without conceding a goal.
