Nors ir tapo Spanoulis naudingiausiu eurolygos žaidėju, bet nuo atkrintamųjų žaidėjo žaidimas yra labai smukęs, jeigu reguliariajame sezone žaidėjas įmesdavo bent po 2 tritaškius į rungtynes, tai dabar jis aplamai nebepataiko, serijoje su Efesu tik 3 jo tritaškiai iš 25 pasiekė tikslą, o pusfinalyje su CSKA pelnė 8 taškus, tritaškiai 0-6. Tame pačiame pusfinalyje aš stačiau Spanulio overį ir stebėjau jį visą laiką, iniciatyvos žaidėjas imasi tikrai mažiau nei ankščiau ir overis jam nesišviečia, nors tai ir finalas. Neabejoju, kad ginyba prieš Spanuli užsiims Sergio Lullas, kuris puikiai ginasi ir neleis Spanuliui daryti lengvų prasiveržimų, kuriais tik ir rinko Spanulis pusfinalyje taškus.
