Today, Kayla, a 26-year-old representative from the USA, will face Darja Vidmanova, a 22-year-old from the Czech Republic.
Kayla had a very good period on hard courts from August to September. She has also recently played well against similar style players like Brengle M. and Zarazua. Vidmanova is a younger Czech player with less experience in bigger tournaments. From what I have seen, Day has a good attacking tennis style at the ITF level, although she does make some mistakes. Vidmanova is a very good returner and has been dominating on the ITF circuit on hard courts for a year now, although her performance at a higher level hasn't been great. However, her serve is not strong and she struggles against aggressive players. Meanwhile, Day doesn't like defending very much. But being in the USA, I think the younger Czech player won't have an easy time. Since it's still the early stages, Day will have lots of energy which is a big advantage, but on the other hand, if there is good resistance, her performance might drop during the match. That's why the first set is important.
