Mexico lost to Ivory Coast 4-1, tied with France 2-2 and South Korea 0-0, and won against Saudi Arabia 3-2. Japan finished the group with 9 goals scored and 7 goals conceded, while Mexico finished with 6 goals scored and 8 conceded. As neither team achieved their goal of reaching the semi-finals, we can expect even more relaxed play from both teams, especially in defense.
