Για την 3ο όμιλο του National League η Ιταλία θα υποδεχτεί την Πολωνία στην πρεμιέρα του ομίλου. Τον όμιλο συμπληρώνει η Πορτογαλία.

Μετά την παταγώδη αποτυχία να προκριθεί στο Μουντιάλ η Ιταλία θέλει να κάνει μια καινούργια αρχή. Αποτυχία που έφερε και αλλαγή στον πάγκο και με τον Ρομπέρτο Μαντσίνι να έχει πλέον την ευθύνη να την οδηγήσει ξανά στον δρόμο των επιτυχιών. Σήμερα δίνει το πρώτο επίσημο ματς με τον έμπειρο προπονητή στον πάγκο, ανεπίσημο ντεμπούτο έκανε στα φιλικά του Μαίου κόντρα σε Σαουδική Αραβία ( 2-1), Γαλλία ( 1-3) και τον Ιούνιο με Ολλανδία ( 1-1) έχοντας και αρκετές αλλαγές στο ρόστερ στο πνεύμα της ανανέωσης που θέλει να περάσει στην ομάδα.

Η Πολωνία από την πλευρά της πήγε με όνειρα και φιλοδοξίες στο Μουντιάλ μετά την επιτυχημένη παρουσία της στα προκριματικά αλλά ήταν μια από τις αποτυχημένες ομάδες της διοργάνωσης. Παρότι δεν είχε κάποιο μεγαθήριο στον όμιλο έχασε και τα 2 πρώτα ματς και έμεινε μόνο το τελευταίο και αδιάφορο πλέον για να πάρει μια νίκη γοήτρου. Αλλαγή στον πάγκο μετά την αποτυχία στα γήπεδα της Ρωσίας με τον Νοβάλκα να αποτελεί παρελθόν, αφήνοντας σε δηλώσεις υπονοούμενα για άσχημες σχέσεις ανάμεσα σε παλιούς και νέους παίχτες της εθνικής και στην θέση του ήρθε ο Γέρικ Μπρέζεκ ( πρώην της Βίσλα Πλοκ) και στις κλήσεις του είχαμε αρκετές αλλαγές στο ρόστερ.

Η Ιταλία είναι φυσιολογικά το φαβορί έστω και αν η απόδοση της δεν είναι κάτι το ιδιαίτερο. Καινούργια αρχή και για τις δύο αλλά τουλάχιστον οι γηπεδούχοι έχουν βρεθεί ξανά έστω και σε λίγα φιλικά και θα τους εμπιστευτώ και μάλιστα να κερδίζουν και από το ημίχρονο.
