Eighth-final of the Eurobasket U20 championship. Israel vs Greece. We are playing with a Greek handicap.
Just as quickly as Israel brought me down to earth after winning against Italy, they were brought down to earth themselves by a loss against Germany. I watched that game and the German youth seemed much better.
On the other hand, the Greeks don't seem too bad. They had a long preparation cycle and looked good. They started off the championship with a win against Serbia, who is one of the favorites in this tournament. After such a high from beating Italy, they relaxed too much and unexpectedly lost to Poland. In the final stage, they fought until the end against France. Although it seemed like the French were going to beat the Greeks after the first period, they rallied and put up a good fight. After playing in such a tough group, I think the Greeks will be more hardened than the Jews. Overall, the Greeks are one of the surprises of this championship and even though they only won once in the group stage, they seem to be in good form.
From what I've seen, the odds are falling and the spreads are rising, so while the handicap is still relatively small, it's worth a try. Good luck.
