The Chinese player, at home, went far in this tournament last year. Bergs is not a serious player, although he has risen from challengers, he is inconsistent. Zhang has 2 consecutive losses on hard court, and scrolling through flashscore, there has not been a case where he has won 3 in a row. He has a good serve, forehand, and backhand, so I choose him.

    Karen Khachanov - Casper Ruud

2-0 wins for Ruud and one of those matches was on hard court. This happened a long time ago, but Norway seems quite strong in this tournament and even though Khachanov is the most serious opponent now, he can still be confidently beaten. Karen himself had relatively weak opponents, but still dropped a set and overall the Russian doesn't seem very stable. So when Ruud catches a pretty good form, I think he has a chance to win.
