Hackett and Shengelia have left their teams for Virtus, which means their defense will suffer even more. ASVEL is without Lauvergne, but they did well together with Sako before his return. Maledon is playing at an MVP level and with such poor defense from Virtus, there is little chance of stopping him. ASVEL is currently on a very good streak, winning 6 games in a row, 3 in the Euroleague and 3 in France. They have beaten opponents such as Žalgiris, Partizan, and Paris team twice while playing away. This is not the same ASVEL that everyone was used to.
