Atletico had a 15-game unbeaten streak, but it was broken on the road against Leganes this weekend, where they had a chance to take all 3 points but Griezmann missed an 11-meter penalty. Bayer currently has a 13-game unbeaten streak, but they have not played against such a strong opponent yet. At home, Atletico is very strong, especially in the UCL, where Simeone has never lost in the knockout stages and has only lost once at home in group stages in the past 3 years. These teams have met before, with a 2-2 draw at Metropolitano two years ago, but in the end, Carrasco scored a penalty and the overall performance was in Atlético's favor. Atlético has a deep bench, with 2 high-quality players for each position, so even if they have a tough start (which is questionable as they tend to start strong in UCL nights), Cholo will have many options to revive the game, unlike Alonso who won't have such luxury. Liverpool defeated Bayer 4-0 at Anfield, showing that they are not as magical of a team as last season, while Atletico is on fire both in attack and defense. I choose the home team.
