Last season, Zverev and Thiem met on all 3 surfaces and all the matches went to 3 sets, with Zverev having some difficulties. This season, Zverev's game is not convincing as he struggled against weaker opponents in Miami, and only narrowly escaped defeat against Arnaldi in the span of a month. He also lost to Tiafoe and Griekspoor. Thiem's form is very good, playing at his maximum potential, and his match against Tiafoe was unreal.
