The Finns are not like they used to be. A very diverse team, with almost no NHL stars. Before the championship, a friendly tournament in the Czech Republic was a shameful performance, with losses to the Swedes, Swiss, and Czechs, on average conceding 6 goals. In the first match, after a tough battle, they managed to beat the Austrians with a score of 2-1. The Austrians had also equalized in the third period, but a goal was overturned after a video review. The French are consistent participants in the World Championships, usually finishing 5-7 in their group. In the first game, they lost to the Latvians with a score of 1-4, and had several opportunities of their own, and they should have them today as well, as long as they can finally convert them.
