Mayar Sherif is defending a lot of points in this tournament, it's almost like a home match for her. She is a very technical player from Egypt and practically all of her achievements have been on clay courts. Sherif won the WTA tournament in Parma last week, defeating the rapidly improving Mboko 2:0 in the final. The Russian player should be an easier opponent for her, as she is very temperamental and if things are not going well, her game can fall apart. On the other hand, the Dutch player is already 34 years old and needs to conserve her energy for the Grand Slam.
