Lloyd Harris - Colton Smith

Colton Smith is entirely new to grass. He has played 2 matches on grass this season. In his first match, he barely defeated the Japanese player Yasutaka Uchiyama, who has not had good results on grass, and yesterday he won the first set against Nicolas Moreno De Alboran, who also doesn't have much experience on grass, but eventually lost the match. Today, he will face a much stronger opponent. Rankings could be deceiving, as Harris hasn't played in a long time and has lost points. However, in his career, Harris has become a very good grass player and the grass season is crucial for his ranking. Last grass season, he had a record of 12-3. It seems that after a long break, Harris is slowly getting back into form after his performance at Wimbledon last year, and he played decently at Roland Garros. I believe he should easily defeat the young player, who is not used to playing on grass.

In the semifinals, the brilliantly playing and serving Hijikata meets with American Smith who I believe is also strong on grass. Australian Hijikata plays very well on grass and this is not the first season that it has been an official grass tournament for the American in his career. The American also looked good, but when it comes to playing against an experienced grass player, everything is completely different. In this match, I think Hijikata is the clear favorite and should win, and I don't expect much from the American because luck can't beat expertise.

Today I completely agree with Peru Smith. Yesterday, he played a really good match against Harris and I think it will be difficult to repeat. He saved 10 out of 11 break points, randomly hitting all the lines. Players at this level do not usually have such long stretches of success, and even on grass, Hijikata did not have an opponent like him. Hijikata is a good player, with decent results on grass, and even this tournament shows that you have to work hard to win points against him, even with your own serve. I believe a much more serious tennis player should easily take care of him here.
