Both recently suffered injuries, following which Zhang consulted with her doctor in Peru and decided to withdraw from the matches, while Kalinskaja has been playing the entire season and it's unclear when she will finish her matches as she already has three unfinished matches this season. Zhang Shuai, a 36-year-old Chinese player, showed good tennis last week, playing swiftly and accurately, though not very quickly, but still a decent player to watch. She should also have the support of fans. Kalinskaja is completely unpredictable. She could withdraw from the match at any time, as Russians seem to have a vacation mentality and I can't recall when was the last time they reached a higher level. In the last month, they lost to Osorio and Sramkova, so I believe the Chinese player is stronger than such opponents.
