Refaat Merna - 21 years old from Egypt, although making progress this year, is only ranked 650 in the WTA and it's her highest ranking at the moment. In this tournament, she played three tough matches in a row, each going to three sets, which should also help her in the game.
On the other side, representing Russia, is Gasanova Anastasia - 26 years old, with a good serve and skilled on this surface. One would hope for more consistency from her, but she has a lot of potential.
