I think the Italian could pose a serious challenge to Girona. The American is a good tennis player and although he doesn't have a strong serve, he gathers many points through his game. But the Italian, even though inconsistent, is able to win points with just one shot. In the first set of the tournament, Darderi didn't look so good, but he found his rhythm and now I believe he should play well and not lose the match, especially considering that they both have a shared history in Peru. So the Italian can confidently win.
