Sonmez Zeynep - a 23-year-old Turk, who has been playing amazingly in this Merida tournament for 23 years now, won the tournament in 2024 and even reached the quarterfinals in Peru. It is likely that she will try to repeat something similar this year, especially since her primary opponent, Ghana, was defeated by Canada's 20-year-old player, Chad Brace, who has competed in the ITF and Challenger tournaments. Canada does not have more serious results even in lower-ranking tournaments, from what I have seen, it seems that the Turk fully overpowered her opponent in two sets.
