For now, Ostapenko is still in the tournament, but she didn't impress me. She moves around the court with difficulty, often missing shots. She takes too many risks with her winners, often giving points to her opponent. Sometimes it seems like the sun is shining too bright for her, or her mind is too distracted, because when her opponent makes a simple winner, she looks shocked for half a minute, as if she had never seen such a shot in her life. When she is leading 30:0 or 40:15, she often lets her opponent break her serve. There is a lack of stability.
Baptiste Hailey, a 24-year-old American, currently ranked 2nd locally, is a very good opponent for her as she has a better serve than Paolini and can hit more balls, which Latvian player does not like. Moreover, in the previous round, Hailey beat the well-performing Svitolina 2:0, so I believe she is a much stronger opponent, considering that Ostapenko often gives away points herself.
