Ruse continues to surprise in this tournament. She has defeated 3 very good players on grass: Noskova, Kalinskaya, and Navarro. One could say that they were saving themselves for Wimbledon, but I watched those matches and it was more Ruse playing very well, rather than her opponents being passive. And not a single set was lost!
Her style is well-suited for grass. She has flat shots, moves well on the court, and her first serve has become more stable and she aggressively takes the second serve.
Yesterday against Navarro, she almost didn't allow her to create any break points, which is rare in women's tennis, and she gathered a large portion of points from her first serve.
Muchova is known to be solid on grass, but she rarely struggles against players like Ruse. Against Tauson, she even lost a set 1:6!
If Ruse can maintain this level of play for the rest of the week, she can confidently win against the Czech player or at least take a set and increase her chances at covering the handicap.
