At the beginning of the season, the newly promoted Elversberg received one of the strongest clubs in the German league. Despite Bayer's past with Xabi, their composition and strength is enough to overcome the league newcomers. In the friendly match cycle, Bayer looked very good, winning almost all of their matches, and the opponents they faced were much stronger than the league newcomers.
