The territory of Macau was in Portuguese hands until 1999, when the Chinese reclaimed sovereignty over the enclave and transformed it into the “Monte Carlo of the Orient” and China’s only legal casino resort.

Macau’s popularity as a tourist resort has continued to grow ever since and having now surpassed Las Vegas as the gambling capital of the world, its casinos seem to be breaking revenue records almost on a monthly basis.

For the month of April, gambling revenue from the resort’s 33 casinos with their 4,811 gaming tables and 14,503 slot machines reached $1.76 billion, beating the previous record set in January and representing a 70% leap in revenue compared to the same period a year ago.

It could be time for Donald Trump to re-invest in Atlantic City.

The numbers are out for New Jersey's Sin City and the results are promising. The resort and casino was down just one percent for April, a sign that the free-falling casino industry in the city is starting to level off.

For the first four months of 2010, casinos won $1.17 billion, down 7.6 percent from the same period in 2009. But that could be because Atlantic City took a 15.7 percent hit in February due to three major snowstorms. April's decline was the smallest in 20 months.

"It's really good to see that in April the market seemed to be stabilizing," said Mark Giannantonio, president of the Tropicana Casino and Resort. "That's been the case over the last several months. But the months to come are going to be the real challenge as a result of table games in Delaware and Pennsylvania."

Table games like blackjack and baccarat brought in $95.6 million, an increase of nearly three percent. Slot machines brought in $215.8 million, a decrease of 2.2 percent.

"It's an indication that the economy is coming out of its doldrums, and that's a good thing for Atlantic City, regardless of what's happening on our borders," casino analyst Cory Morowitz said. "It means Atlantic City seems to be nearing a level of equilbrium, but they still have a lot of work to do."

What has been in the Bodog Casino for years is coming back to Chicago.

Video Poker and Video Blackjack, once banned in the Kane County district of Illinois, repealed its ban on May 13.

The ban was put into place on December of last year, the board voted 12-11 to keep video poker and video blackjack machines from being allowed at bars, restaurants, and truck stops.

However, the recent re-vote decided 17-7 to lift the ban. Illinois law allows video blackjack universally, but also allows individual counties to “opt out”. Kane County did, however with the county in need of more tax revenue bringing back Video gambling machines was the logical choice.
