An important part of basic blackjack strategy is knowing when to Double Down and if you’re new to the game of blackjack then you should definitely learn the ins and outs of this important strategy. Apart from reading the dealer, you’ll need to know exactly when to make your move and recognize the strength in your cards. Check out the strategy below to learn more about how to double down in blackjack, the right way.
Doubling Down is a strategy which allows the player to double their original bet when they have a strong hand. Once the player decides to Double Down, they will be dealt an extra card allowing them to complete their hand and double their bet.
So the big question is to know how and when you should make this move. The prime time to Double Down is when your hand totals 11, this is the absolute best time to take action. If you venture into our Bodog Casino School, and check out the Basic Strategy Guide, you’ll quickly find out that hand totals of 10 and 11 are the best hands to make this move. While these two hands may be the Double Down all-stars, there are many others that will work in your favor.
Here are the strongest hands for Doubling Down:
1. Both Cards Equal 11
2. Both Cards Equal 10; the dealer shows a nine or lower.
3. Both Cards Equal 9; the dealer shows 3, 4, 5 or 6.
3. Player has a soft hand (when the ace acts as 11), an example of this would be an Ace + 4 =15.
*Ace +2 or +3 – Double Down when dealer shows a 5 or 6.
*Ace +4 or +5 – Double Down when dealer shows 4,5 or 6.
*Ace + 6 – Double Down when dealer shows 3,4,5 or 6.
*Ace + 7 – Double Down when dealer shows 2,3,4,5, or 6.
*Ace + 8 – Double Down when dealer shows a 6.

The success of Singapore casinos has been lost on nobody. Analysts are now starting to respond to the success by changing the stock expectations of the companies that have properties in Singapore. The latest projections in terms of revenue are almost $3 billion in 2010.
Resorts World Sentosa is the big draw in Singapore, not only bringing a casino to the country, but also a Universal Studios theme park. The resort is bringing in both gamblers and families, drawing revenue from several different areas of entertainment.
Marina Sands, built by Las Vegas Sands, also is a multi-million dollar resort that has received rave reviews. The gambling has flowed freely at both casinos since the day they opened, and it further validated Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson's belief that the Asian market was one that needed to be tapped into.
Adelson risked his entire fortune on Macau at a time when others were unsure where the area would be profitable. Adelson spent much of his own fortune to build his Macau properties, and now he is considered a genius for moving into the market. The move into Singapore was an easy one of Adelson after the Macau success.
The success overseas has put a damper on spirits in Las Vegas. The old gaming capital of the world has been struggling for several years. The recession hurt casinos in Sin City, but they also lost many of their high rolling customers from Asia. The Asian gamblers now have casino resorts much closer to home, and no longer need to travel across the world to enjoy a nice casino.
