NASCAR driver Carl Michael Edwards has taken his career to whole new level after taking a dive of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino tower in Las Vegas to promote the upcoming Sprint Cup Race. This was a bold move and an incredibly brave one after descending 850 feet onto the ground, with protective harnesses of course.
After watching the footage from The Las Vegas Journal Review, it was clear that due to his car racing background the guy enjoys the adrenaline rush even though he was a bit apprehensive to following through, it was all part of the job.
In an interview with sports news, Edwards admitted that if it weren’t for the cameras and all the commotion of the event he probably would have gone down a little slower. “I didn’t want to jump off that thing. But it was one of the most exhilarating things I’ve ever done, so it was really fun. “
Edwards was promoting the upcoming Nascar weekend starting on March 4th where fans will enjoy the Kobalt Tools 400, Sam’s Town 300 and the Stratosphere Pole Day happening all throughout the weekend. You shouldn’t expect to see Edwards bungee jumping there but you should expect to see him lighting up the track.

Entertainment betting? That’s something that bettors here at Bodog know well and with the Oscars coming up this evening, it’s going to get interesting. Now, for those that would like to place such bets out in Vegas, there has been a big change that’s come about in recent days after the Nevada Gaming Commission approved the right for bettors to place bets on entertainment and any other non-sporting events.
At the moment, such bets aren’t allowed but it is suspected that they will be within the next couple of months. High profile names such as the Wynn, The Hard Rock Hotel among many others will be gearing up for audiences who enjoy betting on entertainment events. A big push for such a change in the legislation came from Mike Colbert from Cantor Gaming who explained how Cantor was a big player in the organization’s efforts to help write and promote the bill allowing to legalize such bets.
Cantor Gaming currently runs and operates sports books in the M Resort, Hard Rock, Tropicana and the Cosmopolitan and currently has their eye on taking bets for the upcoming World Series of Poker 2011 coming up in May, which means that they may have something to do with speeding up the process and cutting down on red tape. According to AOL, Wynn Las Vegas is hoping to be the lead in next year’s round of bets for the Oscars and is working on a special proposal to submit to the Gaming Board for approval.
Well, Vegas is always an option for entertainment betting but you can always count on Bodog for the latest in entertainment props. We’ve been doing this for a long time….Oscars, Razzies, politics, celebrity break-up predictions, you name it.

Part of basic strategy in online blackjack is knowing when to split your cards and as a seasoned player, you probably already know the ins and outs of this move but for those that don’t, here’s a quick rundown.
Splitting your cards gives you the opportunity to create multiple hands anytime you are dealt pairs as well as an opportunity to double your original . It’s not advised to split every time you’re dealt a pair and it’s wise to check the basic strategy guide so you know the right timing of the splitting strategy.
So the dealer gives you a pair of eights, so now you have the option to create two hands but you must place an additional bet equal to your original bet in order to follow through. Now, you have two hands in play and the opportunity to win twice as much as you had originally intended.
Here is a quick guide as to when you should split your cards when dealt the following:
2-2 and 3-3– Split when the dealer is showing cards 2-7
4-4 – Split when the dealer is showing a 5-6
6-6 – Split when the dealer is showing 2-6
7-7 – Split when the dealer is showing 2-7
8-8 – Split anytime apart from when the dealer is showing an ace.
9-9 – Split anytime the dealer is showing 2-6 and 8,9.
A-A – Split anytime – Any hands totaling 21 after being split will not count as Blackjack but 21.
It’s not a complicated strategy to follow and the more hands of blackjack you play you’ll quickly find out that using basic strategy will produce the best results. To learn more about playing blackjack, access Bodog’s Casino School or start using your basic blackjack strategy guide the next time you play at our tables.

Casino revenue in Macau jumped 47.7 percent in February to 19.86 billion patacas ($2.5 billion), the Macau government said on Tuesday, driven by a torrent of gamblers from mainland China to the world's largest gaming market.
Robust demand from mainland tourists, who account for the bulk of Macau's visitors, has been bolstered by a buoyant Chinese economy, helping to sustain double-digit growth in the former Portuguese enclave.
In recent years, U.S. casino operators Wynn Resorts Ltd (WYNN.O), operating through Hong Kong-listed Wynn Macau Ltd (1128.HK), and Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS.N), via Hong Kong-listed Sands China Ltd (1928.HK), have seen revenue from their Macau casinos dwarf that of their Las Vegas counterparts. Siberia is probably the last place in the world you would plan to build a casino but that is exactly what is in the plans according to the Russian government. The plans are for a recreation of Las Vegas in the middle of the vast frozen lands of Siberia, Russia. The problem is how exactly would tourists make their way to this fine Russian establishment in a place that endures some of the roughest winters in the world?
In Russia, gambling is only legal in the most remote places of their country so if you’re looking for a little casino action you’ll have to fly into Europe or bank on taking the Trans-Siberian Railway to drop you off in Nothingville and then hope you can make your way to this new mega casino project. According to Business Week, there's only one slight problem, the lack of infrastructure to support the project and we’re talking about roads, electricity and any level of outside communication. It’s a massive job that the government feels that the “Vegas – East” or “Siberian Coin” as they call it, will become a reality despite the obstacles that are in its way.
Russian casino owners feel the project will take $50 Billion to develop into the project envisioned for the area but the goal for the Russian government is to create the development for a mere $1 billion which is a far cry from what the experts project.
The project is expected to bring much needed jobs to the mountainous region of Altai which borders China, Mongolia and Khazakhstan. Will they be able to pull it off, is the question asked by many who see the project as almost impossible and the answer by the Russian government is certainly, yes.
The state of Florida has been flirting with full-scale casino gambling for several years. On Friday, two lawmakers in the Sunshine State proposed legislation that would forever change the casino gambling industry on the East Coast.
Senators Dennis Jones and Maria Sachs proposed a bill that, if approved, would bring five Las Vegas style casino resorts to Florida. The resorts would be placed in areas throughout the state where they would not be in direct competition of each other.
It will be a hard sell to convince a largely Republican Legislature that gambling expansion is the way to go to help the state budget. Although Jones is a member of the Republican Party, it is unlikely he will gain much support for the bill filed Friday.
Opponents have already started to voice their displeasure with the bill. On the surface, it appears the Seminole Indians would have the most to lose if the legislation was to pass. The Seminoles run several of the biggest casinos currently in the state, and competition would possibly hurt the Seminole casinos' bottom line.
The expansion, however, could benefit the Seminoles. The tribe is permitted to offer any games legal under state law at their casinos, so full-scale casino gambling could mean craps, roulette, and other games that the Seminoles do not currently offer at their casinos.
One of the ideas behind the gambling bill that was filed is the increase in tourism revenue that would come with massive casino resorts. Each casino would have to provide at least 1,000 hotel rooms, and 500,000 square feet of meeting space. This would help Florida attract some of the bigger conventions in the country.
Florida most recently expanded their gambling industry last year when they reached a compact agreement with the Seminoles, authorizing blackjack and baccarat at Seminole casinos. Lawmakers also lowered the gambling tax rate that pari-mutuels pay, and eliminated limits in poker rooms across the state.
Stanley Czapiewski who was busy playing his usual slot machine fare was able to score a total of $733,501 playing penny slots and winning the Colossal Coin Jackpot at Valley View Casino on Friday.
Stanley’s big moment came in a big flash and all he remembers is being surrounded by security as his slot machine lit up and revealed a message, “Stanley, you’ve just won $733,501.59.” These were sweet words to a senior couple from Escondido, California who claim that they’ll be possibly buying a car and paying off bills.
Employees of Valley View Casino awarded the funds to Stanley on Friday as they approached him with suitcases full of cash and a little media exposure to help capture the moment.
Valley View Casino is located in Southern California and features over 2000 slot machines which means that Stanley did a great job of choosing the right one. He claims that he was playing a slot machine requiring him to play $.60 a spin and played a total of $175 before he actually hit the Colossal Coin jackpot.
It’s a great feeling when you hit a jackpot, just ask any of our Bodog daily casino winners and if you haven’t given it a shot yet, what are you waiting for?

The MTV network has always been at the forefront of the annual Spring Break scene, helping college kids around the country party like rock stars in vacation spots like Cancun and Panama City but this year, the party is headed to Las Vegas.
MTV will be hosting its yearly Spring Break celebration at the Palms Resort and Casino, who will be throwing special pool side parties and events for revelers during the week-long break. You can also expect to see celebrities, recording artists and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a few Jersey Shore stars hanging around.
The MGM Grand family will also be joining in the festivities by hosting a special concert starting on the 12th of March with Cee Lo Green and the Ting Tings.
According to USA Today, there is a big concern due to spring breakers generally being 18 and up and the pool parties to be held at the Palms will only allow those to attend who are at least 21, which could pose a problem but there is no way around this since it’s part of the state’s regulations.
Either way, there’s still a lot of fun to be had and you can probably also count on the cast of MTV’s Real World hanging around since they are premiering their new season this coming Wednesday. If you’re looking for one of the biggest Spring Break celebrations in the U.S., then Vegas is where it’s at this year.

Vegas’ final destination for those with a killer sweet tooth, The Sweet Factory, held its grand opening last Friday of their new restaurant venture, Sugar Factory American Brasserie at the Paris Las Vegas, where stars were on hand to celebrate and dive into the mounds of candy on offer at the complex which includes a retail store, brasserie, Chocolate Lounge and the Chateau Nightclub & Gardens.
This will be the third Sugar Factory on the strip and each story is reminiscent of a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory type dream where just about every candy you can think of is available minus the Oompa Loompas. It’s even been reported that Britney Spears dropped $3K in candy for her kids in one visit.
The opening included a special appearance by socialite and reality television star, Kim Kardashian, who was on hand to kick off the celebration and unveil their 125-carat diamond-studded couture pop and according to Vegas Deluxe a matching necklace covered in 125 carats of flawless white diamonds and 200 grams of 18 carat white gold.
Other stars that were enjoying the sweet life included Playboy model, Holly Madison and her crew including Josh Strickland and Lara Croft as well as Matt Goss, Mario Lopez, Drake and DJ Samantha Ronson who spun some tunes at the Chateau nightclub.
Sounds like it’s worth the trip I mean where else can you enjoy a $1,000 Chocolate Gold fondue made with 24-carat gold-coated chocolate?
Pinnacle Entertainment who owns several casinos throughout the United States including Boomtown Casino & Hotel in Reno, Nevada has formed an alliance with Wynn Resorts Limited to allow their customers to use their rewards points within their Wynn Las Vegas properties starting on April 4.
If you’ve ever used a loyalty program such as air miles for example, then you know that it serves as an incentive for customers to keep coming back and according to Bloomberg since Pinnacle has seven properties scattered around the country and Wynn casinos mainly serve the Las Vegas area, then it made sense for them to form an alliance. Any points earned throughout any of Pinnacle's seven casinos can now be used in any of the Wynn properties in Las Vegas and Macau.
According to a recent press release, Pinnacle’s new loyalty program will be called MyChoice and will allow their high-end customers to use accumulated points for nights at any of their casinos as well as Wynn’s luxurious Vegas locations including the Wynn and The Encore.
"Pinnacle Entertainment is a natural strategic marketing partner for us, given the company's commitment to exceptional guest service and its network of casinos in prominent gaming markets," said Wynn Las Vegas President Marilyn Spiegel.
It seems to be the start of a new trend including MGM International who is considering similar arrangement with American Indian Operators and the Las Vegas Sands Corp. will also form an alliance with InterContinental Hotels Group Plc.
Is it a rebellious act on the part of Caesars Entertainment to set up hotels in Asia where gambling is illegal? Well it seems that this move is part of a strategy for the Vegas-based company to get their foot in the door in regards to the Asian market and will only build hotels minus the casino side of things.
It seems that Caesar’s Entertainment has attempted in the past to break into the Asian market but hasn’t been able to because of having trouble gaining casino licenses in the two cities where gambling is allowed – Singapore and the island of Macau where competitors such as MGM and Wynn have already managed to set up their casino/hotel ventures.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Chief Executive of Caesars, Gary Loveman claims, “The non-luxury hotels will be situated in underserved markets in Asia, particularly India, China and other southeastern parts of the continent.” He also claims that the hotels would go under the names Caesars and Flamingo which are brands more recognized in Asia.
While developing brand recognition throughout more remote parts of Asia, they could be the first in line to obtain casino licenses once casino gambling is legalized throughout.
When it rains it pours, just ask Scott R. from CA who won $25,590 yesterday playing Rain Dance slot machine here at Bodog Casino. What a great way to start off the weekend, with a little $25K win to get you through the weekend!
Another high roller in the casino yesterday was Joshua R. of MI who won a total of $22,220 playing online blackjack and making quite a name for himself here at Bodog.
Other casino winners from yesterday included:
Zachary K. of NY won $14,700 playing online Blackjack.
Joseph Y. of FL won $13,178 playing Honey to the Bee online slots.
Adam C. of IL won $12,973 playing Ronin slots.

The Atlantic City casino industry has been ravaged by the economic recession and competition over the past several years, but February provided some hope for the city's slots revenue. The month also showed the possibilities that online casinos could bring in the future.
In February, AC casinos had slots revenue of $183.9 million. That represented an increase of 4.4% from the same period the previous year. The numbers were surprising considering that table game gambling was down 13.2%, to $74.1 million.
The figures back up the claim that online gambling regulations for AC casinos would bring in hundreds of millions of dollars to the state in gaming taxes. Lawmakers understood the economics of the situation when they passed an Internet gambling bill, but Governor Chris Christie vetoed the legislation.
"Slot revenue in Atlantic City more than doubled the table game take," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "Online gamblers are interested mainly in two areas of casinos, poker, and slots. There is little doubt at this point that New Jersey and other states are moving towards online gaming regulations."
New Jersey and the other states may be beaten to the punch by the federal government. Representative John Campbell is preparing to unveil legislation that would overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and set up a regulated system for Internet gambling in the US.
California, Florida, and Iowa have similar bills up for discussion, but the state bills will only allow online gambling within their own jurisdiction. Nevada lawmakers may take that a step further, allowing residents of their state, and any other state where online gambling is regulated, to make wagers at online casinos licensed by Nevada.
Indian tribes have long enjoyed a monopoly on casino gambling in states all across the US. The tribe's had little competition, and in most cases, the competition was held back by strict regulations or high tax rates.
The past couple of years, however, state legislators have been expanding their casino industries. Dozens of states have added new casinos, and many more are in the process of loosening their laws with existing casinos.
In 2009, tribal casino gambling revenue dropped for the first time in many years. Revenue was down to $26.4 billion. That was a decline of only one percent overall, but it was enough to show that state casinos were making a dent in the tribal gaming.
"The competition over the past five years has become so great that there was no way that the tribe's could have continued to see the same profits as in years past," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "State lawmakers knew they needed to even the playing field for non-tribal casinos and pari-mutuel facilities, so the laws were reworked to ensure fair competition."
One of the state's that changed their laws was Florida. Legislators in the Sunshine State allowed the Seminole Indians to create a monopoly on blackjack, but in the process they also lowered taxes on pari-mutuels. The pari-mutuels gained the right to offer their gambling options for longer hours, cutting into some of the late night revenue the Seminoles enjoyed after the pari-mutuel facilities closed.
While the tribe's themselves blamed the economy for the declining revenue, competition is likely the main cause for the decline. It may get worse for the tribal casinos before it gets better, with many states still seeking to further expand their gaming industries.
You could call Pauly D one of the more industrious members of the reality television series Jersey Shore because he’s managed to make a name for himself outside of the reality television realm as a hit DJ and now he’s signed a contract with Palms Casino Resort as a resident DJ for their Rain and Moon nightclubs as well as the Palms Pool & Bungalows.
Good thing this guy knows that the reality TV bubble will eventually burst and as a result of his recent popularity he’s also been able to spin a successful career as a DJ, his true love. According to the Examiner, the guy is flattered to be one of the greats to grace the popular Palms Casino hangouts, “To get to be a resident DJ in Las Vegas – they really think you’re one of the big dogs because there are only big dogs there," he told the Examiner.
This actually a serious gig for Pauly D and according to a recent press release, he will be joining the ranks of world renowned DJ’s at the Palms including Felix the Housecat, Paul Oakenfold among many other star headliners.
Palms owner, George Maloof, was proud to bring Pauly on board and is impressed with his ability to get the crowd going, “I have witnessed his rise to fame over the last couple of years, and his talent and crowd pleasing abilities will continue to do unparalleled things for our property and our guests.”
That’s actually a great gig for Pauly D which means that he’ll probably attract Jersey Shore fans in droves to many of the Palms Las Vegas clubs, sounds like a win win for the Palms.
Yes, the robots are coming to a casino/poker site near you! This is what a player from a popular gambling site found out while a player noticed something just wasn’t right while playing his normal rounds of online poker. After an investigation, it was determined that the guy had been playing against a poker bot all along.
The New York Times broke the story on recent poker bot issues with a few major online gambling sites lost thousands from many going undetected and causing many players to lose big time. They also claimed how the first bots were created more for the sake of chess but the shift to poker came in 2003 when the University of Alberta Computer Poker Research Group which began focusing more on creating poker-playing computers.
So what is a bot designed to do exactly? The bots will play right along with you just like a normal player would and they’re not always easy to detect unless you have a keen eye for such things as in the case of a player at Poker Stars who noticed that something just wasn’t right, he reported the issue and it turned out that he was right on target.
One interesting fact about bots is that they run through different types of gaming scenarios and make decisions based on the information they collect almost like a normal player. They are widely available online but they are of course considered cheating.
As a programmer, you could probably create your own bot if you’re highly skilled as for the guy at Poker Stars who found the bot while playing, The New York Times claims they offered him a job.
