Alabama should legalize gambling

Making gambling illegal does not stop people, so the state might as well gain tax dollars from it.

There are plenty of moral objections to gambling. The problem is that our government isn’t here to serve as the moral conscience for the people of Alabama. The fact is that 140 people in Montgomery should not decide the personal choices of 5 million Alabamians. :dirol

What was supposed to be a big day for proponents of casino gambling in the state of Alabama turned out to be bittersweet. The Senate delayed a vote on a bill that would legalize video gambling, but Attorney General Troy King appears ready to intervene with the Task Force on Illegal Gambling.

The Senate was expected to vote on the gambling bill Tuesday, but the vote was delayed when Senator Kim Benefield failed to show up because her husband was in the hospital. Benefield was one of the senators who's vote was being counted on to pass the bill.

Well lets hope that Alabama turns out to be a sweet victory when they do convene and Senator Kim Benefield gets the opurtunity to vote on the side of the people (legalize video gambling). This would be a vote for the people and a vote by the people that she is representing.

"Sixty percent of those polled claimed that they would be in favor of video gambling, with the revenue generated going towards education."

Cant argue with that.
