Many a player before you has pondered the million dollar question of whether bigger jackpots can be won in gambling meccas, like Las Vegas or Atlantic City, or simply at online casinos.

Speculation around this very question was sparked last year in April when a player won a cool $6 million playing blackjack at The Tropicana in Atlantic City. What's more is that for this particular player, it was not his first but third multi-million dollar casino win. Online players around the world suddenly sat up, took notice and contemplated if they were doing something wrong.

The 14th season of Dancing With The Stars is underway now and the first couple have found their way to the exit after just two performances. Now that the axe has been wielded once, the competition will really start to heat up.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova and partner Tony Dovolani were one of three couples to receive a score of 20 in their first performances but it got even worse with a 17 in the second performance and that sealed their fate as the two got the boot on Wednesday night. It was no surprise that this pair was going home as Navratilova was struggling from the beginning but she held her head high and left with class and grace, which were also traits of her storied career.

Dancing With the Stars Season 14 - Who will win?
William Levy 2/1
Donald Driver 4/1
Katherine Jenkins 4/1
Jaleel White 9/2
Maria Menounos 8/1
Gavin DeGraw 50/1

But a bigger story may have been Maria Menounos, who still performed despite breaking two ribs and she gritted through the pain to, along with partner Derek Hough. They put up a 25 on the scoreboard in the second performance and an overall score of 46. Some are wondering if Menounos, the co-host of Extra, should even still be in the competition, but she is proving to be tough and that should take the competition to another level.

The highest score was 52, which went to classical singer Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas, and they put up a pair of 26s to come away as the early favorites. A disappointment in the second night was actor Jaleel White teamed with Kym Johnson, who followed their 26 on the first night with a 22 on the second for a total of 48. Two couples (Disney star Roshon Fagan and Chelsie Hightower, and William Levy and Cheryl Burke) had 49 points, and this is shaping up to be one of the most competitive seasons of Dancing With The Stars ever.

A recent study shows that online gamblers are more likely to suffer from substance abuse than offline gamblers. This is surprising, considering how many drinks a casino will “comp” you if you sit at the tables at a land-based casino long enough. Perhaps Internet gamblers just undergo more stress and find themselves reaching for the bottle to comfort a big loss or a long-term losing streak.
Montreal Professor Sylvia Kairouz at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University studied socio-demographic profiles and game play patterns, comparing them with varying extremes of addictive behavior in both online and offline adult gamblers.

Gaming experts have an urgent message for indigenous leaders: Federal legislation to legalize online gaming is coming, and if you want to protect Indian country interests, you need to get your strategy in place now.

The clock is ticking toward the lame-duck sessions of Congress in the crucial weeks after the presidential election this November. Experts say that’s when there will be the greatest risk—and greatest opportunity—for the nations, because that’s when legislation is most likely to be pushed through. During such a session at the end of 2010, Washington was abuzz over Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nevada) efforts to attach an online poker bill to a must-pass appropriations bill.

The latest trend in the lottery business — allowing people to buy tickets from their home computers instead of waiting in line at stores — has taken hold in Illinois. And other states are giving serious thought to following suit.

But Wisconsin won't be among them.

There is a state ban against the sale of lottery tickets online, according to Wisconsin Lottery spokesman Andrew Bohage.

"It's not on the radar screen at all," Bohage said last week as the Mega Millions jackpot surged beyond $600 million, setting off a ticket-buying frenzy across the country. "Internet lottery sales are prohibited by the state constitution."

ONLINE gambling firm Bet365 has been named one of the UK's fastest-growing mid-sized private companies.

The Festival Park-based business is at number 30 on Investec Bank's Hot 100, which ranks firms by their compound annual growth rate over the past four years.

According to Investec, Bet365 has grown by an average of 46 per cent per year, with turnover reaching £501.4 million in the year to the end of March 2011.

Ed Cottrell from Investec said: "The 2012 Investec Hot 100 is a fascinating piece of research into high-growth businesses. Some sectors stand out as strong and downturn-resistant: information technology, outsourced services, which are taking up functions formerly held within government and large corporates, and niche and budget retailers, which cater to price sensitive consumers."

Throughout the 2012 legislative session, the potential ban on Internet cafes in Florida was the topic of much debate.

Rep. Scott Plakon proposed a paternalistic bill that would have closed all Internet cafes. Rep. Plakon's punitive measure would have put an estimated 13,000 people out of work and eliminated a source of property and business tax revenue for the state.

I, on the other hand, proposed modernizing regulations to crack down on a handful of questionable Internet cafe operators while allowing the many good operators to continue to feed their families, employ Floridians, support veterans' groups and entertain adults.

If you’re a Hollywood celebrity, you have to deal with constantly answering questions about your personal life. But if you’re pop star Rihanna, the questions can range from inquisitive to invasive.

The 24-year-old has been in the public eye since her first album, Music of the Sun was released in 2005 and she has only gotten bigger – for better or for worse – and then there was her relationship with Chris Brown, which ended in a domestic violence conviction for Brown – and there were rumors that the two were getting back together earlier this year.

Now, Rihanna has been rumored to be involved with another Hollywood A-list superstar in Ashton Kutcher, who made his name on That 70’s Show and has since gone on to create Punk’d, but he was also married to actress Demi Moore. The two separated in November and Moore has been in rehab for addiction and eating disorders, but she is reportedly livid at how Kutcher has acted since the separation.

Will Rihanna and Ashton Kutcher publically annouce they are dating or in a relationship in 2012?
Yes 2/1
No 1/3

She surely can’t be happy about the rumor that he has been seeing Rihanna for at least two months and the singer has allegedly introduced Kutcher to her brother, a sign that things are getting serious.

Both sides are, of course, claiming that there is nothing going on and Rihanna boldly declared that she was happy and single in a recent interview, but that isn’t going to slow down the rumor mill one bit.

In fact, more are coming out that Rihanna has asked Kutcher to join her on a trip to the United Kingdom, where she has a couple shows to do this summer. Rihanna, who is 10 years younger than Kutcher, is going to be a staple in your entertainment rumor headlines for a time to come, just yet.

New Jersey has been racing to try to get Internet gambling up and running and stake a claim to leadership in a potential multi-billion-dollar industry. The bill, which now heads to the full Senate for a vote, would allow bets to be accepted from other states and nations if the state Division of Gaming Enforcement determines it doesn’t violate federal laws. Internet gambling revenue would be taxed at 10 percent, up from the 8 percent casinos pay on regular slot and table games revenue.

Zynga Inc. is thinking about making a big bet on gambling, a step that analysts say could help end its dependence on Facebook Inc.

It certainly won't end its dependence on legal counsel.

The technology may be simple, but lawyers say the company probably isn't prepared for the intricate maze of regulations it will have to navigate to cash in on the action. Add to that the exhaustive financial and background checks Zynga executives and some shareholders might have to endure, and the company's legal department is facing a huge undertaking.

For the millions of Americans who bought Mega Millions lottery tickets, the waiting is over.

The vast majority lost, as they knew they would in a gamble with mega-long odds (176 million to one). A handful won. The names of those whose tickets matched the ten winning numbers haven’t been announced yet, but state officials in Kansas, Illinois, and Maryland say winning tickets were sold there.

They’ll split what’s left of the $640 million jackpot (combined from 42 state lotteries) after Uncle Sam and state taxing authorities claim their share. Others whose $1 ticket matched some of the winning numbers could be paid lesser amounts ranging from $2 to $250,000 (where the odds still were 4 million to one).

States are the biggest winners. Lottery ticket buyers spent some $1.5 billion, most of which goes into state coffers.

Organized gambling is a scam. And it particularly preys upon people with lower incomes – who assume they can’t make it big any other way, who often find it hardest to assess the odds, and whose families can least afford to lose the money. Yet with new, relaxed gambling laws, America is now opening the floodgates.

An Internet gambling bill approved by a New Jersey Senate committee Tuesday would let Atlantic City casinos take bets from gamblers in other states and even other countries, as long as federal and state authorities agree it's legal.

New Jersey has been racing to try to get Internet gambling up and running and stake an early claim to leadership in a potential multi-billion-dollar industry.

But even as the bill edges closer to approval, and supporters try to address legal concerns that led Gov. Chris Christie to veto it last year, its scope is growing.

The bill would allow bets to be accepted from other states and nations if the state Division of Gaming Enforcement determines it doesn't violate federal laws.

The U2 stars Bono and the Edge are gambling on their biggest hit yet after investing millions of dollars in an internet storage company which is tipped to become the next Apple.

The Irish singer and his guitarist colleague were announced as individual investors in Dropbox, a file-sharing service that lets users retrieve their photos, videos and documents from any web-connected device.

One of Silicon Valley’s hottest properties, Dropbox has attracted 50 million users by word of mouth and is already valued at $4 billion. The company plans to challenge Apple and Google in the rapidly expanding "cloud" online storage business.

The President of the United States, Barack Obama, will have a busy summer on his hands as he seeks reelection for a second term to stay in the White House. But he may have to carve out a little time to make his way onto the big screen.

If the creators of Entourage decide it is the right time to make the feature film that they have been talking about since the HBO hit show ended after eight seasons in September 2011. President Obama has gone on the record in stating that his favorite television shows are The Wire and Entourage (a pair of HBO programs) and Adrian Grenier, who plays the show’s protagonist, Vince, posted on his Facebook page that the President promised to make a cameo if a movie was ever made. Executive producer Mark Wahlberg has said that he will do everything to ensure that this movie is done. Now that the President could be a part of it, the Entourage feature film would be an even bigger spectacle than ever.

Bovada Sportsbook odds makers aren’t as sure as Grenier as they have a “no” rated at 1/5 for the prop, “Will President Obama be in the Entourage movie”, while a “yes” is 3/1.

First, the movie has to be filmed and for all anyone knows, a script has yet to be written. There hasn’t been much discussion about the film in recent months but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t being talked about. Furthermore, President Obama is already relatively popular with the younger demographic (much more popular than any Republican candidate) and an appearance in one of the biggest shows of the last decade couldn’t hurt his campaign.

Social network gaming company Zynga is reportedly interested in moving into the world of online casino gambling. The New York Post said that Zynga has been in talks with Wynn Resorts.

US Digital Gaming founder Richard “Skip” Bronson said, in a state-by-state scenario that “the existing gaming interests are most likely the ones who will be getting the licenses for Internet gambling.”

Sources said Zynga may try to move first in the UK, where online betting is already legal, though competition is stiff.

Indeed, Facebook, which does not want to host online gambling on its own site, has held conversations with UK online bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes about offering Facebook users access to their sites, a source said.
