Many Hollywood marriages don't have a happy ending and apparently we've got one more to add to the books. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are headed for divorce.
The news came as somewhat of a surprise last week and the gossip rags hadn’t really seen this coming. Often times the paparazzi will have some sort of insight into the matters – as they did with Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries – but that was not the case here.

Rumor has it that Cruise’s beliefs in Scientology pushed Holmes to the edge. She was concerned about their young girl Suri being forced into Scientology as well and she wanted to pull away before it was too late.
Holmes filed for divorce in New York, which could pave the way for her to receive full custody. The State of New York has shown a history to side with the mothers and grant them full custody. Had she opted to file like somewhere in California, she would be less likely to get her wish.
For Cruise, it seems like 33 is his number. All three of his marriages have ended when his wives were 33-years-old, which is a little of a coincidence when you consider that 33 is an important number in Scientology as well.
In any case, Cruise is back on the market, which should make plenty of women happy. He’s long been one of the most sought after men in Hollywood and now he’s definitely available. For Holmes, she’s still very much in her prime and should have no problem finding someone to keep her company.
The two sides are hoping for an amicable settlement but we’ll get a feel for how contentious things can get in the coming weeks and months.
