That’s -850 for Brown going to jail and +130 that he will escape jail time.

(Odds are relatively high considering Brown has only been charged with making criminal threats and not for beating Rihanna but it is believed that more charges against him are pending).

The Washington-based Competitive Enterprise Institute has released a position paper arguing that online gambling is legal in the US despite public misconceptions, and that the Internet gaming industry has been unjustifiably black-balled by US politicians who use fear as a means for furthering anti-online gambling moves.

*Only Washington and Utah have state blanket laws against online gambling*

The change has come, and it is time for US politicians to accept new circumstances rather than appealing to ignorance and fear, the paper opines.

Although it has been clear that such gamblers cannot simply net their gains and losses over the year, the exact method they should use was never specified. The IRS recently issued a legal memorandum that explains how gambling gains and losses should be calculated for tax purposes.

That's interesting to know a person can claim their gambling loses as that's what i would be claiming. I've learned to play in the freerolls and have won a little here and there but more practice is needed.

It has been reported that the European Commission has now ended its formal investigation into the US clampdown on European gaming companies.

It is alleged that the report finds the United States guilty of violating global trade agreements by targeting European online gaming companies for legal enforcement while allowing US companies to operate freely in the US market following the 2006 UIFEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act).

However, it is hoped that the EU executive who overseas trade policy will first enter into talks with the new Obama administration to negotiate a solution.

Many hope that the Obama administration will repeal the UIGEA.

Most players have found any increasingly difficult to deposit money into online gambling accounts. Of course online gambling sites have tried to work around the ban using other depositing methods like ecash options and wire transfers.

Pretty hard to believe that the government has the time or the money to investigate and prosecute companies that allow online wagering deposits. With the current economic time now would be a great time to repeal the 2006 law and start collecting taxes from online wagering profits.

Security is the main feature online gambling customers consider when choosing a casino, poker room or bingo site.

A new survey from VeriSign showed that 85% of consumers consider trusting a site to be the most important factor in interacting with an internet location and sharing personal or confidential information.

Make sure that you are choosing your websites for membership based not only on things like payout schedules and progressive jackpots, but also on the details that will ensure you're playing on a secure website, be it slot, poker, or sportsbetting. Players should take into consideration when selecting an online casino the eCOGRA Seal of Approval.

CogniSafe have launched the PitBoss endpoint solution in order to reduce cheating in online gambling through online bots and advisors or software cheats.

CogniSafe claim the software can be adapted to fit the specific needs of the customers and has already proven successful for online gaming clients. It can even be updated to recognize new forms of cheating.

Chief technical officer at CogniSafe Shmel Konforty explained that the PitBoss software uses algorithms and player behaviour models to determine threats to the system. It is able to monitor patterns in game logic simultaneously on how the player plays as well as on the operator.

Data on the player is analyzed to pinpoint any potential threats as well as determining if they are a cheat they are already aware of, a mutation of an existing threat or a new threat entirely.

Konforty said: “This is based on Symantec technology that is used mainly in detection that gives the ability to monitor. It tries to understand the event and it can be 100 per cent normal, but if you detect a threat it can be diagnosed. It will look for programmes that show a threat in the system that works in real time.”
