After struggling to control illegal online casino gaming, South Africa is set to implement regulations which will give the country control of Internet gaming. Discarding the prohibition imposed by the US and several other less enlightened countries, South Africa will combat uncontrolled online gambling by placing rules to allow huge competitive advantage to licensed Internet casino operators.

Licensed online casinos will also be taxed, the rate being set at six percent of gross gaming revenue.

Washington is the only state that makes online gambling a Class C felony for those who actually place bets on the Web.

PRWeb has long been one of the leading sources for online gambling press releases.

The Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (iMEGA) has joined millions of people in the US who feel their constitutional rights have been taken away by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

Now, the date has been set by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals to hear iMEGA's arguments. That date is July 6th, with the court reserving the right to change that date to anytime the week of the 6th.

This is good news that iMEGA will finally get to show the court why the UIGEA goes against everything the constitution stands for.

Atlantic Lottery Corp. is reported to build an online sports betting website.

Online gambling, sports betting specifically, if legalized in Canada, will allow Canadians to place their wagers on sporting events from their homes without having to step into the cold winter air, and draw Americans across the border in spite of the weather.

Nova Scotia, in Canada's Atlantic region, is considering online gambling, sports betting, casinos and poker in the province.

A recent study conducted by the Harvard Medical School Division on Addictions suggests that the widespread availability of Internet gambling has not led to an increase in the number of people addicted to gambling.

As you may have heard, PRWeb recently announced it has stopped accepting press releases from online casino and internet gambling related businesses. This includes online slots, bingo, poker, horseracing, lotteries, and all other forms of online wagering. Web portals offering reviews and gaming tips are also included in the ban.

Today in a company statement, Press Release 365 announced they will continue distributing news and information for clients in the online casino and gambling industry, no questions asked.

Freedom-loving US citizens were disappointed as Representative Barney Frank did not expand his support for the social rights to choose to play at online gambling sites and smoke pot to include financial freedoms. Frank asserted the right of adults to make their own decisions to visit online casinos or smoke marijuana, but denied their rights to choose to assume high-interest mortgages.

The online gambling industry is still waiting on proposed legislation to overturn the UIGEA. Frank has said that the legislation would be proposed by the end of April, but with less than a week left in the month, and other pressing financial issues, the industry may have to wait a little bit longer.
