Online gaming in the USA is showing signs of potentially becoming a reality. The bigwigs of the casino world in Las Vegas, Harrah's Entertainment, are looking to develop and position themselves ahead of expectations to legalize online gaming.

When the U.S. Congress cracked down on Internet betting in 2006, the big, publicly traded European companies that had dominated the business closed up shop in the United States. Growth in the booming industry shifted away from these companies, once the darlings of the stock market, to private operators in offshore locations like Antigua and the Isle of Man.

But now, executives of some of the European companies whisper excitedly that they may soon get a second chance in the United States. Meanwhile, a number of European countries that have long maintained barriers are moving, under pressure from regulators, to legalize, and tax - online gambling.............

Bet365 founders Peter and Denise Coates were sixth on the list. Betfair did not place anyone in the top ten on the list, but they did have three executives in the top twenty. Ed Wray was eleventh, Andrew Balack was twelfth, and Richard Koch was seventeenth.

There was a familiar face at the top of the Rich List. Peter Cruddas was once again number one on the list. Cruddas is the founder of Internet securities dealer CMC. Google's Michael Moritz was fifth on the list, Bebo's Michael and Xochi Berch were eighth, and Tihan Prespie, the founder of Miniclip, was tenth.

State's online gambling ban goes too far, legislator says.

Rep. Pat Garofalo introduced a bill that if passed would keep Minnesota from enforcing its ban of online gambling. The state "has better things to do," Garofalo said.

Reps. Barney Frank, D-Mass., chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and Peter King, R-N.Y. unveiled legislation Wednesday that would enable Americans to legally gamble online.

The bill would allow the Treasury secretary to license and revoke licenses of Internet gambling Web sites under the guise of protection Americans' personal freedoms to gamble and consumer protection concerns.
