Governor Steve Beshear was on both sides of the gambling issue in Kentucky last year. He was for gambling expansion at state racetracks, but against online gambling that had already been taking place in Kentucky.

Beshear and other lawmakers attempted to have state laws changed to allow slot gambling at state racetracks. The Senate, however, blocked those attempts. House lawmakers have not given up the fight..

Their has been a huge surge in mobile online gambling in South Africa. It is estimated
that over 500,000 citizens are actively gambling online and most of these players are
gambling over their mobile phones. This may be due to the fact that more South Africans
have access to a mobile phone for gambling, and less access to a laptop or desktop computer.

(The current gambling laws in South Africa are unclear when it comes to online gambling,
and new legislation needs to be adopted to clarify the laws. Online gambling operators
continue to accept South African bets due to the unclear law and lack of enforcement.)

Iowa House leaders are currently working on a bill that would legalize online gambling to help bring in millions of dollars in revenue. Some state leaders say it'd be a completely safe and successful alternative for gamblers.

No credit card information would be given out, the designated sites would be secure, and best of all, it could bring in an estimated 80 million dollars. But some say it would bring in much more than that. Experts say, to date, over 50,000 Iowans already illegally gamble online and about 1/3 of those folks are compulsive gamblers.

The bill is currently in subcommittee, so if you'd like your voice heard on the issue you're encouraged to contact your local state representatives.

Holy crap, Howard Stern is a mean, mean man. Stern ridiculed Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe on his Sirius satellite show on Monday, discussing with co-host Robin Quivers Sidibe's size, how she will never work again in Hollywood and commenting on how "some asshole" from off the street can land a part in a major motion picture. Stern, who couldn't even pronounce Sidibe's name correctly, and Quivers, made their callously delivered tirade while interjecting sound-bites from Oprah's tribute to Sidibe during the Oscars.

"There's the most enormous, fat black chick I've ever seen. She is enormous. Everyone's pretending she's a part of show business and she's never going to be in another movie," he said. "She should have gotten the Best Actress award because she's never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?"

"And Oprah's lying and saying you're going to have a brilliant career," added Quivers.

"Oprah's another liar, a filthy liar," said Stern. "She's telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that she's going to have a career."

Well, Stern and Quivers are already eating crow, as Sidibe is slated to appear on the new Showtime series The C Word and she just wrapped on a movie starring Zoe Kravitz called, Yelling to the Sky.

What do you think? Did Stern go too far? Will he be forced to apologize? Get all your entertainment betting in the Bodog Sportsbook now.

He always goes too far. He's a no talent hack and the fact that he even has a career is a sad commentary on our culture.

After playing over 5000 online tourneys you try not to remember the bad ones. But I'd have to say it is any large field mtt that you grind out for 5 or 6 hours only to end up bounced on the bubble, and I have had a few of those.

Former teen idol Corey Haim has died at the age of 38. It is believed the former actor died of an accidental drug overdose.

(“I lived in L.A. in the Eighties, which was not the best place to be. I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack,” he said in the interview.)

The Frank bill, as it is colloquially called, has been in the works since May of 2009. The deadline for the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act would have taken effect on December 1st of 2009, but due to the slow progress the Frank bill had been making, legislators decided to postpone this deadline by six months. With less than four months and counting, the Frank bill will have to move forward through the process or face further difficulty.

Regardless of what happens, states will still have the power over their jurisdictions to allow Online Gambling to continue unfettered. Such attempts are being considered in California, Florida, and Iowa.

The number of Americans playing at online casinos is on the rise, according to a recent poll, despite the harsh measures that have been taken to outlaw the practice in the US. (The rise has not come without a price though, with land-based casinos suffering a drop in attendance.)

Adults in the 25-34 year-old age bracket were most likely to visit a casino, with 56 percent making the visit at some stage in the past year.
