Manne wrote: Online gambling company PartyGaming said Tuesday that its second quarter revenue is expected to be up around 28%, mainly due to the acquisitions of Cashcade and the World Poker Tour as well as strong growth in its online casino arm. The group said revenue is likely to be down around 2% compared to the first quarter as the relatively unexpected results in the World Cup -- and the subsequent favorable impact on sports betting margins -- was more than offset by a greater-than-expected adverse impact on other parts of the business. The group said that its online poker arm in particular had suffered from an 8% to 9% fall in the number of players during the World Cup.

Ain't no party like a Diddy party.

The man has become popular/notorious for throwing the biggest, over-the-top, music video-style parties since he dropped "Been Around the World", and it appears this time he may have gone too far.

A rowdy crowd in Atlantic City, New Jersey, forced Harrah’s Resort to close surrounding nightclubs and cancel a pool party featuring Sean "Diddy" Combs, Floyd Mayweather and and other big names.

Diddy had 1,800 people getting down in his July 4 pool party, and supposedly another 500 tried to force their way in after midnight. Diddy couldn't even show up to his own party fashionably late because it was so crazy.

Harrah’s closed all their bars operating in the area to avoid any more problems with the crowd.

And the next day, Harrah’s canceled a show that was scheduled to feature more than a dozen DJ's, to avoid any more craziness.

Manne wrote: Chinese police smashed an illegal gambling gang that hoped to score big from the World Cup, with the alleged ringleader "Dark Brother" accused over dealings worth $14.7 billion, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

The gang accused of running a sophisticated and secretive online betting network since 2006, was broken up from June 7, days before the start of the World Cup, according to the Guangzhou Daily, the official newspaper of the capital of China's southern province of Guangdong. Many of the wagers were placed there.

China's scandal-plagued soccer team failed to qualify for the World Cup, but that has not dampened the enthusiasm of Chinese fans. Quite a few have wagered on matches, despite the ruling Communist Party's ban on gambling. The government allows only small wagers through state-run sports "lotteries."

"Off the field, the enthusiasm of ordinary fans to take part in football gambling has been growing and the talons of gambling gangs extend across the country and soccer betting is rampant," said the Chinese-language daily.

Police arrested the gang leader, a Hong Kong man going by the nickname "Dark Brother," when he was leaving a cocaine-fueled nightclub party in the early hours of June 7 in Shenzhen, a city neighboring Hong Kong, it said.

"The case of the gambling gang involves accumulated sums of over 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion)," said the report, citing police claims. It did not explain the bases for that estimate, leaving it unclear how much was won back by gamblers.

"The black hand behind this massive gambling racket was a gambling baron who hid in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong area," it said.

"Dark Brother" and his subordinates ran a tightly organized network across southern and eastern China that took bets through the Internet. The report said the gang leader's surname was Li.

Another leader in the gang was a woman who went by the nickname "Old Cat," the report said. She helped run the operation from an ordinary-looking apartment, where she lived with her child, it said.

Neighbors said they had no idea. "She was the ringleader of a gambling gang? I never saw that," a neighborhood management official told the paper.

The gang made its money by taking a share of the ante that gamblers wagered on matches, the report said.

I read once upon a time that Chinese beat on everything. They are worst that poker players and their prop bets. That is a lot of money for a country complaining about poverty. US is so much the same. People will buy a lottery ticket and a 12 pack of beer and let the lights get cut off. Holly cow what has this world come to? X

Sweden can ban internet gambling as long as its penalties for foreign operators are no stricter than those for Swedish operators, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has said.

(Sweden allows gambling activity, but only that which is licensed by the state and has as its main purpose socially beneficial activities.)

The 62nd Annual Emmy Awards are upon us and it looks like Glee, Mad Men and the HBO miniseries The Pacific have earned the most nods.

One of the biggest shockers was former Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien, who was famously ousted from his show which was handed back to Jay Leno, earned a nomination as best variety, music or comedy series. Leno, however, who currently hosts the Tonight Show was overlooked. O'Brien will be up against The Colbert Report as well as The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, Real Time With Bill Maher and Saturday Night Live.

Glee earned 19 nominations, but was outdone by the Second World War drama, The Pacific, which led the nominee race with 24 nominations. Saturday Night Live received 12 nominations for a total 126 nominations during its run, while Betty White scored a nomination for her hosting gig on the show.

Steve Carell has been nominated for his role as Michael Scott on The Office. For outstanding actor in a comedy, he is up against Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Matthew Morrison (Glee), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Tony Shalhoub (Monk).

For outstanding actress in a comedy, Lea Michele has been nominated for her role as an uptight songstress on Glee. Other Glee nominees include Matthew Morrison for outstanding actor, Chris Colfer for supporting actor and Jane Lynch for supporting actress.

Nominees for best drama are Lost, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Mad Men, True Blood and The Good Wife. Check out the complete list of 2010 Emmy nominees. Want to bet on television? Who will replace Larry King? Bodog's got all the odds.

Online gambling is in the midst of its biggest boom ever in the US, and lawmakers have tried their best to stop the growth. Indirectly, many legislators on the state level may have helped the cause by turning to expanded casino gambling during the recession. The addition of casinos around the US may have accomplished something that the UIGEA never could, tearing Americans away from their computers and online gambling sites.

Prohibition in the 1920s destroyed America's once-robust brewing industry, made smugglers rich, and did nothing to curb drinking. Outlawing drugs has been a similarly spectacular failure. There is little reason to suppose that the latest line in American prohibition -an effort to ban online gambling -will fare any better.😡!

Yes, you would think the US goverment would learn after disasterous attempts to regulate adult behavior previously -- about the only thing they can be said to have minimal success with is obscenity/pornography -- but so far we're still waiting for full scale legalization & monetization of the online gambling industry here. . .

Although I have never really been a big-time smoker per se, I did really enjoy it when I did smoke on occasion. I have always wished I could find an alternative that didnt have the adverse side effects.

I decided to buy an electronic cigarette and I have to say, WOW, what an amazing device it is.

Anyone else ever tried one of these things? They are truly amazing and I will never go back to regular smokes again.

If anyone is truly interested in more details just respond below

Although the revenue of many Las Vegas, Nevada casinos has improved over the six months some of the smaller venue are still struggling. This is readily apparent with the bankruptcy of the Las Vegas Riviera Resort & Casino.

Riviera Holdings Corp, owner of the Riviera on the Las Vegas Strip, has filed for bankruptcy protection under a pre-negotiated deal which will transfer ownership of the company to senior secured lenders.

In court papers, Riviera said it was affected by the decline in the U.S. economy and things were only going to get tougher with all the renovations north of The Strip isolating them.

"The effects of such nearby vacant lots and uncompleted projects have been considerable. Although Riviera Las Vegas has fewer neighboring competitors, there are also fewer reasons for customers to venture to the north end of the Strip," Riviera said.

Despite the bankruptcy claim the Riviera has maintained that customers and employees will not be affected.

The fat lady has sung for the drama, romance, cat fights and of course, the Pratts – as The Hills is officially no more. What was most dramatic was how it all ended. Fans of the show, who have been convinced that everything that happened was real (or at least they hoped it was), were Tweeting up a storm after Kristin Cavallari finally realized that her ex-boyfriend, turned friend, turned friends with benefits, was just not that into her. So Kristin decided to teach him a lesson by fleeing to Europe and after the two bid each other an emotional farewell, the cameras panned out and it was revealed that Brody Jenner was standing in a Hollywood sound stage. Gasp! Oh no they didn't.

On the After Show, when asked about the ending, Kristin and Brody said it was open to viewer interpretation. What was real? What wasn't? We'll never know.

As for the rest of the cast, Stephanie Pratt got herself a real biker boyfriend (yes, they actually had "the talk"). "Old soul" Lo Bosworth moved in with her boyfriend and dullsville Audrina Patridge moved into an awesome house on Hermosa Beach, the lucky bitch. Meanwhile, on the After Show, Lauren Conrad returned to pimp her new books, while Holly Montag was subjected to a video montage of just how much her estranged sister has changed, reducing her to tears. The video almost had an "In Memoriam" feel to it, like Heidi Montag is no longer with us. Perhaps she's not. It does seem like she's been replaced by a plastic fembot.

So yes, fans. What did you think of The Hills series finale? We only have The Jersey Shore to watch, which is kind of like The Hills, just with a little more grease and venereal disease. Make your own money by betting on celebrities. Don't have an account? Join Bodog now.

Figures recently released from Singapore’s National Addictions Management Service (Nams) show that 17 per cent of patients seen in 2009 were gambling addicts, compared to 5 per cent in 2007.

Wong Kim Eng, Clinical Director of Nams, said the rise in gambling addiction cases may be due to the increased awareness of Nams and its treatment programmes, according to a report in the Straits Times.

The island-state’s first casino, Resort World Sentosa, opened in February this year, followed in May by the Marina Bay Sands.
