There's a shitload of online casinos and i think it's impossible to set a fixed number.

It surprises me that 1996 was the year of the first online casino. I thought it would have been during the 80's? Saying that computers didn't really take off in the home in a big way until the mid 90's.

I don't think you will ever get a definate answer to that question as there are so many coming on line almost each day.
Online betting is certainly a big growth business and due to its convenience is going to carry on growing for many years to come.
