How about a very large sack filled with thousands of pounds of extra strong magnets and some type of material to prevent air pockets.

What have happened outside that coast is just terrible, alot of things comes on my mind but one that still pops up. Is how greedy corporations get away with dirty things over and over.

Im not sure if your idea can be transfered from idea to action. But why don't BP have any revolutionary ideas at all. They are the ones in the oil industry and as such should be prepared for something catastrophic like this. Poor animals, poor environment and poor people.

I agree where is homeland security thay should have deployed the national guard army engineeres coast guard marines and navy to protect us and fix it quick then send bp the bill. Not you tax dollars. Ya i almost forgot they could call the pipefitters union ironworkers hell i think the carpenters could do a better job of fixing this than what has been done so far seems like a joke. Congress better fine the sh t out of bp and make sure it gets done like now. I know that there is no easy solution but do something even if its wrong. Doing nothing just adds to the massive destruction this is causing. and ofcourse we will pay for thier fu one way or another through a bailout or increased costs at the pumps. and or both. Freerollbird just my opinion.

I think this late in the game it's time to take BP out of the picture and let someone else take a shot at fixing the leak ...
I mean really, can it get any worse?

The best way to stop it is by inserting a device directly into the pipe. This is quite a challenge given the depth and the 2,600 psi the oil is spewing out at. the device has to be torpedeo shaped and about half the bore diameter. The trailing end having three or four cleated feet that are attached with arms mounted with a fulcrum design that will exert more gripping force the harder its pushed back. Then the head of the device can be mechanically or remote ly expanded to restrict the flow until it is cut off. Then they can fill it with concrete.
