Lee Rousso is taking action on the grounds that the ban goes against US constitutional rulings that protect trade. The World Trade Organisation ruled in December last year that the UIGEA was unfair, and that it could only be kept if the same restrictions were placed upon American gaming establishments. The lawsuit is hoped to eventually see online poker reinstated.

New York Democrat Anthony Weiner and Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson have just recently shown their support for the new bill. House Representatives Steven Rothman from New Jersey, Michael Honda from California and Maryland Representative Albert Russell Wynn are also supporters.


The IGREA needs a total vote of 218 in order to be passed on to the Senate for ratification and, currently, Frank's Democrat Party controls 53 percent of the House's 435 seats.
