The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was put in place by the Bush Administration with the idea in mind that the government could do away with Internet gambling in the US. Now, a couple of years later it appears that the law has backfired.

That is according to Focus on the Family, who reported that online gambling is up. Revenue for Internet gambling rose to over $20 billion in 2008.

(Many people feel more comfortable staying at home and gambling on their computers. They are saving gas, and in most cases, saving money they would be spending on food and drinks in a casino).

Hello All,

I much prefer live poker, but for me it's too far to compare the convenience of online to live poker. If I want to play live, I have an hour and some to get to the casino. It is in another state from where I live. Then when you do get there, you have to wait for a long time to get a seat. It's really not worth hassle. JMHO.

Personally I like both: live and on line! Each type has its advantages! But as for increasing popularity of the second...I agree with Mike it's just because people are lazy! Lazy to go somewhere, to put something on, do their hair and so on!

I guess that the real pro must still play live poker even if they also play online, as it must be completely different from online play, with tells, people talking, etc...

I think online poker reach people that would never have been in a casino to play live poker, like me πŸ˜„

In France, the online poker games are really a growing market (a new law will soon be voted)

I would prooly play online poker,even if we were only allowed to play with play chips.But getting to play for free real money is quite excellent,for lack of better words.
I was playing online real money Before the UIGEA was enacted and you could Not find any good freerolls,All this freeroll money went to advertisements and such.So,the only great thing about the UIGEA is there are alott more freerolls now.I suspect most freerolls will disappear when*the law is changed to legalize online gaming.Enjoy them all you can until then!

Play casino games from home is the best option to save time, money and enjoy the fun of gambling

I am not so sure about 'casino' games online

in the casino games
the odds are always against you

I think if you are gonna playem
go out to the casino & put your money down
because more than not
you are gonna lose
at least that way, it can take longer
and not as quick as 'a click of a mouse'

when you are playing against the house
the house has the odds in their favor

now, online poker is not included in that
you aren't up against the house
sure, there is luck involved
but your skill, can make that into good luck😑

Why people gamble online? Because its easily accessible, requires no traveling, you can multi-table. Also here you have got a fine range of games at one place, quick 24/7 customer support and secure transfers. I hope this growing market of online casinos will dominate in the coming years.

It's not a short trip either way to Atlantic City or Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun no matter what the mode of transportation. Perhaps if they ever do get table gaming going in the Catskills it will make it a more attractive option to add live play to my activities instead of online only. But until then you'll find me perched in front of the monitor. . .[/FONT]
