Full Tilt Poker CEO Raymond Bitar says he will do "whatever is required" to return millions of dollars to online poker players who lost access to their cash after the site was closed down by the government.

Bitar, 40, was arrested on Monday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, according to Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. Bitar was charged last year with gambling, bank fraud and money laundering in connection with the operation of Full Tilt Poker.

Bitar is charged with promising players that their funds would be protected in "segregated" accounts when the company used the money to pay for Full Tilt operations and to pay Bitar and other owners over $430 million, according to Bharara. Full Tilt Poker was unable to pay the about $350 million it owed to players in the U.S. and around the world.

On Monday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Debra Freedman agreed to release Bitar on $2.5 million bond secured by $1 million in cash or property and the signatures of five financially responsible people, Business Week reported.

Horse racing will soon have more competition from legal forms of Internet gambling in the United States, although that initial competition will be in the form of intrastate wagering.

On June 28, Delaware Gov. Jack Markell signed a bill that will allow intrastate online gambling on games like poker, roulette, and blackjack. The Delaware Gaming Competitiveness Act of 2012 clears the way for players in Delaware to wager online.

Backers said the bill, which will set up a system where Delaware’s land-based casinos will launch web sites that will be controlled centrally by the state’s lottery office, will position the state well as it competes with Pennsylvania and Maryland for gambling handle, reports the Wilmington, Delaware News-Journal.

Wednesdays have gone wild at Bovada Casino. Players can claim their bounty by playing video poker. The bounty consists of cash bonuses and lucky draw prizes. For starters, the Video Poker Wednesday promotion will run on all Wednesdays from June 27 until August 8. A promotional day refers to one Wednesday singly and not to all Wednesdays combined.

One component of the Bovada Casino Video Poker Wednesday promotion is the $52 cash bonus. In order to qualify for this, players must accumulate 52 tickets during one promotional day. To earn one ticket, players must wager a minimum of $52 on any video poker variant during the promotional day. All video poker variants offered at Bovada Casino are eligible in this promotion. In one promotional day a player can earn a maximum bonus of $52. The bonus will be credited directly to qualifying players’ accounts within 48 hours of the end of the promotional day. The bonus has a 20 times rollover requirement on eligible casino games.

The other component of the Bovada Casino Video Poker Wednesday promotion is the $5,200 weekly prize pool. For every $52 wagered on any video poker variant during the promotional day, the player will receive one entry for the weekly prize draw. There is no limit to the number of draw entries players can receive. Ten winners will be selected at random every week and each winner will receive $520 in cash, with no rollover restrictions attached.

Bovada Casino offers an excellent range of video poker games from the software provider Realtime Gaming. The staple variants include Aces and Eights, All American Poker, Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, Joker Poker and Sevens Wild. However there are some variants that are found exclusively at Realtime Gaming online casinos. In 7 Stud Poker, the player is dealt seven cards, with the first and third card revealed immediately. The player can place multiple bets to reveal each card one at a time, or can fold and lose the amount wagered. If the final hand ranking achieved is listed in the pay table, then the player is awarded a corresponding payout. In Mystery Bonus Poker, one of the hand rankings is randomly designated as the Mystery Bonus. If the player’s final hand ranking matches with the Mystery Bonus then he receives double the normal payout. In Pick’em Poker players are dealt two single cards face up and two sets of three cards with only the top card of each set exposed. They must choose between the two sets based on the card on top of the sets and the two single cards. Bovada Casino is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

The thought of betting one’s lifetime savings on one hand of cards would be terrifying to most, but for the Dang brothers, gambling hundreds of thousands, even millions, of dollars playing online poker is just another day on the job.

The “grind,” as they call it, has been very good to Di and Hac, with some estimating their total winnings at over $15 million since 2004.

“It isn’t really gambling. It was more of a grind,” said Di, who is 28 and the older of the two by a year. “It was very strategic and numbers based. We’re gamblers like people who invest in real estate or the stock market. They buy a ton and win 55 to 60 percent of the time. In the long run, the wins make up for the losses and more. We win 55 to 60 percent of our sessions.”

Manne wrote: Microgaming Poker Network has terminated its contract with online poker site 5050Poker.

The site, which was suspended from the Microgaming network just over 10 days ago, has accused the network of acting in an unethical manner.

However Microgaming has responded by shutting the door on the Swedish-based site saying, “…the Microgaming Poker Network regrets to announce that it has terminated its contract with 5050Poker Ltd, with immediate effect.
The decision was taken after giving 5050Poker Ltd over a week to redress a material breach of their contract, being the non-payment of monies owed to cure their overdrawn network clearing account.

Manne wrote: Sunday night proved a mixed blessing for online poker player “NikoBellic11″ after losing with quads to an opponent while playing at Americas Cardroom. Fortunately, though, the positives far exceeded the negatives as he was playing at a Bad Beat Jackpot table at the time and consequently ended up scooping the lion’s share of the $130,000 bonus prize.

As Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris was quick to explain: “With the WSOP currently in progress, we know players are experiencing all sorts of brutal bad beats in Vegas without getting anything to ease the pain. But we’re way different. When online poker players get dealt a crushing blow at a Bad Beat Jackpot table, they’ll pop the jackpot that climbs by thousands of dollars every day.”
$130k is a great win which is hit in American card room. I have never seen a player who has played like to make this type of win ever. Its a huge amount and small game.

It was just coincidence that the operator of what was once one of poker’s biggest websites was arrested the same week 48 players each plunked down $1 million in cash to sit down in a Las Vegas casino for what was billed as the biggest payout in tournament poker.

The poker industry needed the “Big One for One Drop” to restore some vitality to the game, which has suffered in the wake of a government crackdown on online poker sites. And what could be better than a national television audience with poker pros and poker wannabes battling it out for a first prize that rivaled those paid Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao?

Indeed, the final table Tuesday night at the Rio hotel didn’t just include the usual sharks who hang out in Las Vegas poker rooms. There was a Cirque du Soleil owner who dreamed up the whole thing and a hedge fund operator who donated his $4.3 million winnings for third place to a charity helping students in high risk urban schools.

According to reports from not only the poker world but the mainstream press, U. K. poker pro Sam Trickett was attacked and beaten following one of the brightest moments of his poker career.

The stunning attack was first revealed by Trickett over his Twitter account late last night with accompanying pictures. “Was having a great day until 6 guys did this to me,” Trickett chirped to his fans, adding in a picture of his bruised and cut face to show the damage. “Is this what happens if (you’re) successful?”

The attack apparently occurred following Trickett’s participation at the final table of “The Big One For One Drop,” the million dollar buy in event that he performed well at. Trickett would work his way to heads up action against Antonio Esfandiari but could never get past Esfandiari, settling for second place and a $10.112 million payday for his runner up finish.

A British poker pro says he was attacked by six men in Las Vegas just hours after he won more than $10 million in a tournament.

Sam Trickett, 26, of London, posted a photo of his battered face on Twitter late Wednesday.

"Was having a great day until 6 guys did this to me. Seriously Wtf? Couldn't be more angry... #cowards," he wrote.

Trickett, the UK's biggest poker tournament winner, was out celebrating with his girlfriend Natasha Sandhu after taking second place at The Big One for One Drop tournament on Tuesday night,

Yes, you read that headline right. Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari won a second gold bracelet and $18,346,673 for his victory in the $1,000,000 buy-in Big One For One Drop tournament that served as Event #55 in this year's World Series of Poker. And while Antonio's now-massive bankroll is impressive, the final table breakdown means that the top nine finishers collected the mind-boggling sum of $42,666,672. The final table alone means that the 2012 WSOP awarded more prize money in a single day than any other live poker tournament held in history for its entire duration.

You're probably familiar with Esfandiari, but to recap: he's 33 years old and he became a professional magician at the age of 19. He got invited into a card game one evening and soon after, his path was set. In addition to this victory, he took down the 2004 $2,000 Pot Limit Hold 'Em tournament in the WSOP and has won a pair of World Poker Tour titles.

Second place went to Sam Trickett, the 26-year-old English poker pro who is known as one of the highest-stakes gamblers in the world and is referred to as the king of the British poker scene. Trickett was seeking his first WSOP gold bracelet, but had to instead settle for the biggest consolation prize in poker history -- $10,112,001 for second place.

When asked if his heart was racing during the final hand that won him the biggest prize in poker history, Esfandiari's normally cool facade broke a little bit.

"It wasn’t beating that hard actually. I just went through the process and I was thinking: Okay here we are. This is the moment. If you fade this flush draw, you win the biggest tournament in history of the world. And that’s it. This is the moment," he told reporters. "It’s here, right now. I was like please Jesus, this one time. And I’m pretty sure I used up all my one-times on this tournament, but I’m okay with that. I said earlier if I use my one-times for the next five years in this tournament, I’m happy with that. So, from now on, it’s one more time."

What shouldn't be lost in all the hubbub about this win is that the Big One For One Drop was a charity poker event. (In fact, the founder of One Drop Guy Labierte, came in sixth.) Over $10,000,000 was raised from the rake for the 48 poker players who participated, and that's all being funneled towards clean drinking water for children and adults around the world.

Still, $18,000,000+ going to one guy for playing poker well is still pretty amazing, huh?

When California State Senator Roderick Wright attempted to legalize online poker with SB 1463, he sold it as a way to help patch up California's busted budget , which is indeed in dire trouble. Surprisingly, the strongest resistance came not from the ever-more-irrelevant anti-gambling moralists, but from powerful pro-gaming special interests clinging to lucrative state-granted privilege.

"There's no way that we can do something that might be the death knell for our industry," says David Quintana, lobbyist for the California Tribal Business Alliance, which opposes any form of online poker legalization on the grounds that it could negatively affect the economic activity of California's Indian tribes.

The online poker industry in the United States is hurting badly, and it’s all because of the UIGEA. We laughed at the UIGEA at first because it appeared to affect nothing… but six years later we are still seeing the waves caused by the Draconian legislation.

The two poker rooms to make the news last month are BetOnline Poker and Lock Poker. I had high hopes for both poker rooms but decided to hold off on promoting them as I was involved more in online casinos than poker at the time. Both poker rooms started off with what appeared to be great programs, but problems have plagued both poker sites.

More than a year ago, the U.S. government temporarily paralyzed the online poker world by shutting down the nation’s leading poker sites, including FullTiltPoker-com.

That crackdown renewed efforts by gambling entrepreneurs to launch legal sites in the U.S. One such site is SkillBet-com, which claims to be “100 percent legal” in 28 states, including Colorado.

At SkillBet, two players are dealt identical hands and play against the same five computer bots in Texas Hold ‘em. The live player who wins more money wins the difference. For example, if player A wins $25 against the five computers and player B wins $10 against those same bots with the same starting hand and same community cards, then player B owes player A $15.

$125,000 is a ton of cash for most people, but for one gambler in Las Vegas the amount is apparently a drop in the bucket. Poker pro Daniel Negreanu shared a story on his Twitter account which involves a stranger and $125,000.

Negreanu posted on his Twitter account that a stranger gave him $125,000 after stating he had no use for the large amount of cash. Negreanu stated that he did not know the stranger who approached him and handed him the large sum of money. the poker pro related the incident to his Twitter followers in two posts:

“Guy I’d never met before just handed me $125k in cash cause he had ‘no use for it and had to fly out’. Man do I live in a strange world.”
